How To Cure Blue Rot, Stage 3
When it gets to stage 3, and you're starting to turn blue, follow these procedures. Buy a full bottle of whiskey. Buy a full bottle of pain killers. Buy some antibiotics. Find a good place to hole up.

Drink half the bottle of whiskey. Take half the pain killers. Take 3 antibiotics. Go to sleep. After the hangover is over and your loss of blood improves, if you are still alive, you will notice that "the blue rot, stage 3" is no longer one of "player's" attributes.

The theory here is that enough alcohol in the blood kills those nasty little blue rot spores, fungi, or whatever, faster than it kills you.

If you fail to wake up after trying this cure, sue the whiskey manufacturer. The American Dream.

1/3 of the time you can survive the blue rot, you know. If you stay in good condition. My current char did.

Mine did too, after taking the above described "cure". He was bled out way into the red after the bender mixed with narcotics. But the blue rot was gone. I think I'm going to patent the cure.

What I meant is that correlation doesn't imply causality.

I guess the only way to be sure is to create a new character and get him infected. Then try the same cure. This is more trouble than I want right now.

Or we could tally votes from other fearless, infected, "players". Try my cure. Then report in whether it worked or not. And, please, no profanity.

perhaps a group should be formed to take these votes

Love how you guys are conducting a experiment in a game, perhaps a post on the Bluebottle forums would make it speedier? Anyways, cudos :)

Listen, I'm not gonna stand between a dying man and his whiskey. ;) But just for the record, there is no game mechanic that would make the whiskey improve Phil's healing chances. His mood, probably yes. ;)

How about gin?

Seriously, when I was a teenager I had asthma. Nobody had asthma at that time, so I was never treated for it. I found my dad's whiskey bottle one night, when I was having a particularly bad episode. I took a sip and gargled with it. Then I swallowed it. It burned going down, but it seemed to loosen up the constriction in my lungs.

I took a few more swigs, maybe 3 or 4 fluid ounces total, and found that I could breathe normally enough to get to sleep. I didn't get my first albuterol cannister until about 15 years later. It was the first medicine I found that worked better to relieve acute asthma attacks than whiskey.

Also, if you're in a better mood, your chances of recovery from a disease are increased.

The Dream's changed in recent years.

It used to be something like: "Boy, people really like my cooking/plumbing/repairing. I think I should borrow a few thousand from the bank and start my own business. If I do good, word will spread, the business will grow, and in 10 or 20 years I'll be rich."

Now it's: "Son, see that Rolls Royce comng down the street?" "Yes, Ma." "I want you to run in front of it, and let it hit you." "MA?" "Not too hard, just roll with the blow like we've practiced. Then we'll get a lawyer who works for percentage, and we'll be rich in a few weeks."
Out of curiousity...

If you have one-dose of actual cure on hand is it possible to take it to the DMC hospital and lead towards a widespread cure?

Or is you being selfish and using it yourself the only real way to address the Blue Rot?

I'm not sure one dose will do much good, but if you get your hands on a larger supply you might try contacting hatter...

I would think one dose is enough. Not enough to cure an entire population but enough to know what they need to mix together to make LARGE quantities of the stuff (we ARE in the future it may be apocolyptic but they seemed to have managed to make a city complete with cops on flying motorcycles that have turrents attached to them) to then dispense to everyone else.

Apparently, they can do well without you. When your actions at Saginaw spark the great idea in the King Eli, to infect the city with the Rot, it takes them between two weeks and two months (depending on how the action at the Institution went on exactly) to quarantine the city and deal with the problem.
