Which Arrow Is Best?
Crude piercing arrows sell for less than crude broadhead arrows ($2.00 v $3.00 for broadhead). Yet the discussions I have read seem to indicate that piercing arrows do better against armored enemies.

Also, has anyone come across a recipe for crafting regular--as opposed to crude--broadhead arrows? Or regular piercing arrows?

There are no non-crude piercing arrows. And the non-crude broadhead arrows cannot be made - those are the ones made professionally before the crash of civilization and industrial production process.

Now, the "power" of an arrow mostly depends on the bow it is being shoot from:

On the weak, simple and Anishinabe bows there is no difference in penetration strength and the damage is slightly better on broad-headed arrows (of both kinds).

With strong, compound bow the broad-headed arrows of both types still have better damaging potential, but the penetration is better on crude piercing and professional broad-headed ones, that it is on crude broads. Range is also greater with this bow.

Warning Spoilers (exact stats)

Anishinabe/Simple bow w/broadhead
Range: 30
Damage: Cut-0.8, Blunt-0.4
Penetration: 1

Anishinabe/Simple bow w/crude broadhead
Range: 30
Damage: Cut-0.8, Blunt-0.4
Penetration: 1

Anishinabe/Simple bow w/crude piercing
Range: 30
Damage: Cut-0.8, Blunt-0.1
Penetration: 1

---

Compound bow w/broadhead
Range: 40
Damage: Cut-0.8, Blunt-0.4
Penetration: 2

Compound bow w/crude piercing
Range: 40
Damage: Cut-0.8, Blunt-0.1
Penetration: 2

Compound bow w/crude broadhead
Range: 40
Damage: Cut-0.8, Blunt-0.4
Penetration: 1

My player has the compound bow. Looks like crude piercing is the way for him to go. I am sometimes able to buy regular broadhead arrows in top condition at the ATN. This leads me to suspect the ATN are still making them, since any arrow fired 4 times becomes useless.

I always crafted broadhead till now, even though I always assumed piercing would work better against armor. Then again if you're attacking guards, you probably already have a gun. Good to know that switching to piercing once you have a combound bow is a smart strategy. Thanks for the stats Kaaven. :)

I guess this was already asked somewhere in this forum before but i will ask anyway: How is the range to an opponent and damage/ accuracy correlated? Does it matter if i'm at 10, 25 or 40 range with a compound bow w/broadhead?

Damage is not. The accuracy is lower with distance (that's why characters with Ranged who have x2 the range are, due to that, 2x more accurate). The exact math, however, is unknown to me.

I always wait till enemies are within 10 paces before opening fire. The theory is: these are home made crude arrows; their accuracy must be suspect. Also, velocity must fall off quickly for crude arrows, reducing their penetration power.

This is where athletic ability shines. I can usually get two shots off while the enemy is from 10 to 5 paces away. I then sprint away, ending up at 10 paces again, and repeat till the enemy is reduced to spear fodder.
