Best way to kill a dogman?
So far the best I have found is wait till he is about 4 away from you, put one revolver bullet in him and rush him with your spear(I did not get injured at all in that encounter)

.50 caliber machine gun, while sitting in an armored vehicle. ;)

But, really:

Are you hunting him or are you defending against him?

Best way to hunt is to catch him in the open and take him down with ranged weapons.

If you are the one being hunted, then the fight can be at night or in rough terrain where ranged isn't very useful. Then just fight like you normally would. Spear to make the first attack, defend until you see an opening, and strike when you can safely and effectively do so. Just be even more careful than usual, since these guys can really mess you up even with one hit.

Yeah unless you have a ranged weapon with a lot of ammunition or a REALLY good melee weapon i would suggest you to run. I once lost a chraracter who had an eye surgery done and a shotgun with alot of ammunition because i decided to "spare ammunition".

Yeah, that "sparing ammunition" thing really speaks to me. Never spare ammunition. It's a perma-death game, with little to spend money on and ammo goes poof after you die - there's no logic to sparing ammo. Don't spare it. Seriously don't. You should have learnt by now not to. Really. Don't do it. Don't, I said.

Sorry. Just muttering to myself. :P

but you also don't want to just shoot at random things.....
I honestly prefer the warclub. Dogmen are way less threatening with broken limbs. I've found they're tough enough to power through spear stabs and close range often enough. I prefer minor backpedaling to force them into a charge and then go hard once they're in range and hope something of theirs breaks or you get a stun.

Honestly the war club is very overlooked for how utterly devestating it can be.

How does one make a warclub?
You don't make it, you have to get it from the annashinabe. Still, it doesn't cost much and it's well worth it. Two range and really good damage on par with a monkey wrench.

Plus it looks pretty cool too. :)

the best way that i found would be get a spear and maintain a distance of 3
so that he can't hit you but you can. At one point if you manage to stun the dogman, you can just keep hitting him till he dies

i hunted one once with melee, got some bad scratches and some major-medium bleeding, luckily i had some bandages on hand,so if you are hunted by a dogman,i hear they rarely run away when you threaten them with a rifle, ammo or no

Nice vid, thanks.

First, don't ever get hit.
Second, keep distance.
Third, attack from range (You will want a broad spear to do this optimally in melee)

I don't know if it's been meantioned, but if you're worried about attacks while you're sleeping camp on an open field. You wont receive the bonuses you'd normally have in a city, but the encounter distance is much higher (you won't likily wake up already getting mauled; you'll probally wake up with around 20 distance).

bow or sling with stones in an open field does fine too. and it does not waste ammo. arrows only take sticks, foil, string, and shards, and are quite a bit lighter then stones, but stones can be picked up almost anywhere, but bow takes up a lot of space in inventory.
