Is the 3 Dog Moon shirt cursed?

I had played for quite a few hours now without too much problem, running into the occasional "Bad Mutha" or Melonhead.

However, the first night of finding and wearing a 3 Dog Moon t-shirt, I get tracked and attacked by a Dogman. The only dogman I had ever seen before this was in the Cryo Facility.

Coincidence??? I think not.

I was playing the game totally fine, found this shirt, it had higher quality than my other shirts so I kept it, my next fight vs a Bad Mutha I saw it listed me as wearing it which I thought was weird. That night a Dogman tracks me down and slaughters me, I had been surviving a few days without seeing any, and used botany to get rid of spawn one so didnt even need to run from that one.
Then about three runs later I found the shirt again, same situation higher quality and all, so thinking it was just a coincidence last time I wore the shirt again, and believe it or not that night a dog man tracked me down and killed me.
It is this very reason I looked it up in the first place.

I thought i read (wiki maybe?) that the shirt increased the likelyhood of enemies being afraid of you (fleeing in combat). I've worn it alot and never really noticed any effect. No increased dogmen for me, can't say I've noticed the intimidation bouns either.

Tabris you are right. I am just walking through the woods and i just find the shirt in a storage shed i think "nice a shirt and its legendary or something" i search it up and find this, i saw some people saying they weren't hunted down so i thought i would give it a try. i put it on and THE TURN LATER a dogman leader jumps me and started chasing me no matter how far i ran so i was just like "f**k this man" and i take off the shirt and run away and guess what, he instantly stops pursuing me and leaves me alone. i think it attracts all dog men in a certain vicinity to you and i think it is a statistic given to the item, it may increase surrender rates as well. so if you find this shirt just don't take the risk man.

I wore it and nothing happened....seriously....It was just another random shirt I wore to get my heat up. I don't think I ran into a dogman, but then again, I coulda just ran from it and not noticed what it was.

3 dog moon has pros and cons. the con of it is that it increases dogman spawn rate and aggressiveness, the pros are an intimidation buff, a general luck buff when scavenging (this doesn't affect the chance you pass or fail the scavenging attempt, but that when you pass it you have a better chance of more or better items) and if you're capable of killing dogmen with relative ease and have the trapping skill, selling dogman coats is quite profitable, and dogmen coats give an intimidation buff that stacks with the 3 dog moon, so it's a natural synergy. all in all i wear it despite the risk of t h e h o u n d s, and even if i don't it sells for a decent amount compared to other shirts.

From the wiki "When equipped, a 3 Dog Moon T-Shirt provides a 25% chance to gain an reputation boost with dogmen (200 against the usual -100), which results in dogmen being non-aggressive for one hour (one turn). This is calculated by a check against the item's properties, which occurs each hour of game time. When the boost is active, dogmen will attempt to retreat from combat encounters. This effect only works against dogmen – not against feral dogs or other creatures."

I was reading up on this just now because I was wearing the shirt and we’re seeing more dog men and thought it was weird. I read that people said they were being mauled in their sleep and didn’t believe it because I had worn the t-shirt for what I would say is almost a week and didn’t suffer any hunting or nighttime attacks, however the same night after reading these comments I was aproached by a dog man in my sleep. Luckily my noise trap alerted me and I was able to kill it with my broad spear, but it’s safe to say I won’t be wearing that shirt any longer.

I still don't think it affects dogman spawns. I used to wear these all the time.

When I first posted this I thought it would just be some funny conspiracy but I'm so glad other people have noticed this too.

I also think this thread is now cursed since people get attacked by dogmen after coming here
