How to sell?

I am at the market outside of the glow, how do I sell things as they have a backpack I need.

Just drop the items in the ground - you will receive their worth in $$$ and once you have enough money, you will be able to pick up the items you want.

You sell things by simply placing them inside the store (on the floor hexes of the store or in the store containers). You buy things by taking them from the store on yourself or your containers.

I wouldn't sell ammunation, rather save it until I get the gun for it.

The thing is it doesn't say what type or caliber of bullets they are, it just says Some Bullets.

It won't tell you that, if you don't have the Ranged skill - your character simply does not know that.

That is one thing I find odd. Doesn't ammunition have it's caliber on the bottom of the casing? I have some empty 12 gauge shells on my shelf and they have their caliber on them.

I'd much rather use a bow than a gun. Hand slot is a hand slot, doesn't matter how big the item is, and most of the rifles load much fewer rounds.
