Are Melonheads supposed to be deformed humans?
What's the lore surrounding them? Also, what's the lore surrounding all the monsters? Why are there monsters? Why didn't the devs just add realistic and vicious animals to the game instead? Would've been so much better and believable since this game is going for survival realism.

If Melonheads are deformed humans from some type of radioactive thing then that makes sense. But the other monsters....

Would be cool to see wolves, bears, feral dogs, etc.

There are monster in the game because of reasons (lore) that the player is supposed to figure out while playing. The game as I understand it is part survival part mystery, the player is supposed to be trying to understand what happened to him and the world, while trying to survive.

Not all the lore (not all the story) is available ingame at this point, the game is still in beta. And frankly I'm not sure if we as the players/survivors are ever going to figure out the whole story that exists in the dev's head (it's just one guy), but I suppose that's part and parcel of all mystery type stories. However there are already tidbits you can find out out while playing, and I'm sure when the game is finished enough will be answered so that you can have a fair idea of the lore behind the world.

First of all, Dan the developer said from the start that he wants to create a world with a supernatural elements. He even lists Shadowrun among his major influences (and good for him, cause that setting is bloody great).

When it comes to why the world is as it is - it was only discussed outside of the game and is not presented in the lore anywhere, so it's hard to give any spoilers, cause (for now) there aren't any.

The monsters origins - all but two creatures from the game are based on real-life crypto-zoogical/legendary figures from the folklore of the Michigan and other nearby regions. If you want to read more, try:
- Melonheads[en.wikipedia.org]
- Enfield Horror[cryptozoologycryptids.wikia.com]
- Michigan Dogman[en.wikipedia.org] (the oldest one, first mentions come from 19th century)

The two exceptions are: Yezinka[www.mainlesson.com], which comes from Czechoslovakian folk fairytale, and Merga Wraith, which is an original concept, as far as I know. Little more info about him can be uncovered in the encounter available after the player kills him..

I hate that Enfield Horror so much. I'm not sure if it's the same one but for the past couple weeks in the game an Enfield Horror keeps sneaking into my camp in cryo, running up to range 5, then runs away. Twice a night. Every night. If I see it during the day it runs away before I can kill it. I'm pretty sure it kills people who come near my camp too because in the morning I find dead bodies next to cryo.

That's kinda funny. Wish that happened to me.

Only weird thing with monster that's even happened to me was when I got knocked out by a looter who got in a lucky punch. While uncouncious the looter took all my gear and ran off. Then a Mergawraith shows up. I couldn't do anything of course.

I've been doing a lot of odd things in the game, which probably has been making the AI act odly too. For example I have dozens of shelters (one every 10 or so hexes, tarp tent + sleeping bag) across the map which has resulted in looters and bandits fighting each other for nice spots to sleep. I was chased by a bandit all the way to detroit, only to have the DMC guards chase that bandit all the way back to cryo. They're still there, one naked DMC guard leading a second DMC who's dual wielding shotguns. They keep summoning reinforcements too, or at least sniper support.

Pretty much everything except dogmen and the occasional suicidal/dying bad mudah doesn't turn and run at range 5 once they get a good look at my character; clown mask, dmc armor, atn trenchcoat, broad spear and compound bow.

And I mean suicidal, I've lost count how many times I've been attacked by bandits who start battle with me, run a good 30+ meters in combat, then run away, then die in the adjacent hex without being touched. No idea what kills them. They just die.

Oh and melonheads. No idea what's wrong with them, they run at the sight of me then the second they find a weapon suddenly they're leading suicide charges right into my spear. An unloaded shotgun does not make one invincible.
