How do I carry items?

I keep finding items but have no way to take them with me. Do I need to craft a back pack or something?

you cant really craft anything unless you have the engineering skill. but one of the most common bags is a plastic bag. just stick it in your hand or backpack slot and your good to go.

In addition to plastic bag you can find backpack, duffel bag and makeshift sack by scavenging. You can also make a makeshift sack by combining 1X large, non-rigid sheet + 1X medium thread.

I like the Travois, but you don't need mechanic to get them, you can also buy them from the ATN Enclave.
