Overcoming Blue Rot
Is it possible to overcome Blue Rot by just treating symptoms, refilling blood? I can't get to mental clinic in time I run out of blood after refill. I've read there is a point when the disease just goes away, is that false? Should I burn my money and wait near DMC or should I run like hell to mental clinic and get the cure?

you need to chew roots or get lucky

Chewing the root has a very-very small chance to heal you. Similarly small chance exist for you to survive naturally.

There is also third, more certain method of saving yourself, but it involves visiting the Frogger's base and Saginaw and following the story there.

Bear root is out of the question, ATN post is damn too far

I didn't think blood transfusions could remove diseases/illnesses, and was more for lost blood.

DMC does not have the technology required to cure Blue Rot at all.

But in DMC I can manage to live longer and maybe overcome Blue Rot naturally. It was said I would die in 72 hours, but I'm alive for about 9 days. But if I'm 1 day of travel far from DMC I am dead man for sure, mainly because of blood loss, as there is no other solution for blood loss but transfusions

Oh yeah - if you are trying to "sweat it off" the DMC won't help directly, but will help you mitigate all the side-effects untill you either kick the bucket or get better.

EDIT:
OK, I have double-checked something and it seems there is a bug in the current build of the game, which makes all the diseases (including Blue Rot, Poison and Smallpox) non-fatal. Which is probably why your dude survived that many days so easily.

I have already reported that, so the fix should not be too far away.

So in other words there's a chance that OP could live through blue rot if they can mitigate the symptoms long enough?

It would be interesting to see how long their character will be able to survive, I myself have never let blue rot progress to the point where it could kill my character. I book it straight for Saginaw every time.
I just survived the Blue Rot. My character had Medic and Tough skills. I completed the Saginaw, took rifle reward, killed queen for more items, and half way to DC got "Blue Rot 2 stage" warning. I returned to DC, rented best house + used sleeping bag there for really good "healing", I bought antibiotics and used them everytime "imminity boost" disappeared, I also had "green" water/food - in DC it's not a problem. Also I used nano-healing-stuff a few times in the clinic. I was spending all the time in "rest and heal" mode.
After a few days it changed to "Blue Rot 3 stage", my Imminity bar dropped to something like 66% but everything else stayed full. After 3 more days, Blue Rot passed out.

I don't know how much pills, rest and perks helped, and how much luck was there.

Oh yes, about 12 days and $12000 later and I'm free from Blue Rot 3. All that I did was transfusing blood in the clinic (3 times) to keep my Blood supply bar high and drinking tanin tea every now and then. I couldn't just rest and heal, because my Immunity bar was pretty low, so an hour later and I wouldn't have time to drink tanin. Tanin tea is a savior - every 3-4 turns, when Immunity ar drops, you drink ONE tanin tea. It boosts Immunity bar few points up.
2 Times I had panic attack when I realised that I was weary, had no water, no tanin tea, and I started bleeding again (those days yaknow). WHAT TO DO FIRST!?!?!? It needs careful managment of every state, reserved tanin tea for emergencies, blood transfusions every time Blood bar is dropping.
Also about REST+HEAL, it didn't help or didn't work. All those DMC policemen were wandering around and disturbing rest and heal process by just their presence.
And antibiotics (white pills) didn't help too. Immunity bar was dropping anyway though they gave "immunity boost status"

UPDATE: DMC clinic says, I am still Blue Rot carrier

I have been playing NeoScavenger for 4 years and have been lucky enough to avoid the Blue Rot. When I did get it, I followed the advice above. I added in 2 nanobot uses on the last 2 days (I bought a kit). I managed to keep my immunity just under the yellow zone. After a few days of Blue Rot 3, my immunity bar turned green in my sleep. I checked at the clinic to be sure, and I am: Perfectly Healthy. Thanks guys

:)

What exactly causes the blue rot? It seems kinda like something that forces you to got to the DMC or die, kinda contrary to the sandboxy nature of the game.

Blue Frogs. It's not RNG, and it certainly isn't 'contrary to the sanboxy nature of the game'.

Everytime I played I contracted the Blue Rot just by meeting and fighting Blue Frogs. I didn't have a respirator or a gasmask, maybe they could prevent it. Thats why I don't understand stories of some people claiming that they haven't ever contracted Blue Rot.
