Is the developer from Michigan / Detroit Metro area?
I'm from the Detroit Metro area and just thought it was cool to see Michigan finally get some love in a game. Love the work you do dev, keep it up!

I believe he's Canadian. I'm not sure though...

Not a Michigander, just a fan :)

I'm actually from NH, and made NEO Scavenger while living in BC, Canada. And since last year, I'm back in the States (Seattle).

Lower Michigan was originally chosen because it was a peninsula, so I could easily explain why the player couldn't travel out of the state in 3 directions. The Great Black Swamp was a contrivance for the southern border.

And Michigan also had several features I liked for the setting: temperate climate, a mix of urban and wilderness areas, and a culture of grit and resolve: Speramus Meliora; Resurget Cineribus.

Meh, Normally I'm very anti people moving to my home - we're drowning in non-locals and making the prices of stuff here shoot through the roof, old buildings being torn down for huge ugly monstrosities and the entire city's character changing.

However, since you created NEOScav, which I have been playing since long before it was on Steam - I say welcome! Hope you're liking it and the locals aren't *too* distantly polite once you mention you arent from the PNW...

Thanks! Only ran into an overt "oh, you're one of those" once, thankfully. For the most part, people seem pretty welcoming.

And for what it's worth, I like to think a place's character never changes entirely. It just becomes layered over time.

Cost of living notwithstanding :)

I'm surprised you put so much though into it, Neo scav was literally so well thought out, it has inspired me to write my own apacalyptic cyber punk story, but I was sure, there was a bigger reason. The game Detroit: Become Human is a futuristic city game in the same area, so I thought I was seriously, seriously missing something as I've never personally been to Detroit.
