Possible Workaround for UE Fatal Errors - Please post all crashes in this post

I could use a few PC savy folks to perform this workaround and let me know if this worked out for you as well. Folks who arent savy, please dont screw around with files.

FYI - this might not fix every type of fatal error, but for the ones most commonly reported so far... this seems to be the common factor. Continue to post your crashes so the devs can look deeper into them. I will try to help if anybody needs me to look at their dmp files as well.

Since there are more and more people reporting crashes, and the other thread was titled as a nvidia driver, and Hopefully the devs will actually look into this issue... Im merging the other 2 forum threads regarding the crashes.

From the responses, this seems to be occurring with Different types of cpus and video cards (as in not exclusive to amd/intel cpus, and nvidia/amd video cards)

Tests on nvidia drivers have gone back the the last 5 versions including the one just posted yesterday.

Memory Dumps generated by the game point to memory related issues and problems with cash.sys and dx12.

I have personally performed all of the following troubleshooting.

1. Tested the past 5 Nvidia Drivers (including the one posted yesterday)
2. Adjusted my pagefile size/location - this was purely for testing - results varied.
3. Ensured no overclocking settings were enabled in bios and on the video card.
4. Restored my PC to a point prior to the game being released and retested with all 5 drivers again.
5. Reinstalled Windows and Once again tested all 5 drivers. The Newest Driver seems to be crashing far more frequently on my system than the 4 older ones. (not the .40 version, the new one.)
6. Dropped down my settings from Ultra to High.
7. Tested various upscaling/frame generation options- still getting crashes.

The Crash Dump outputs from WINDBG contain a lot of data that doesnt show up well on these forums, SO i cut out the bulk of that part of the output and left the most relevant data detailing the error.

In regards to the output from googles search results... I have verified that no issues with DXDIAG.

If the Developer has ANYTHING ELSE THEY WANT ME/US TO TEST, PLEASE REPLY SO WE CAN TRY TO FIX WHAT EVER THE PROBLEM IS.

This is the ONLY game in which i get crashes like this.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF OUT SANITY.... Put in the following options in settings ASAP.
1. Quick Save Hotkey
2. Manual Save that does not exit the current save.
3. Auto Save Interval Settings

Thank you for doing this DV-1stCav . :cozybethesda: I for one has been having login issues since the game came out. I usually crash for 3 or 4 times trying to load the game and then on the 5th try i'm able to play, yesterday i played for 9hrs.. lol Today i tried loading the game and it's the same thing 3 or 4 tries and eventually it will let me in. Maybe the Devs will see this and be able to help ppl who are not able to get into the game at all.

Maybe post your findings on there discord.

Have been playing for 2 hours now no problems until now. getting fatal error 2 times now within 30 min

Gonna do some Compatibility tests with the exe files.
First Test is going to be to Disable the Full screen optimizations on

CashCleanerSim-Win64-Shipping.exe

and Run that exe file rather than launch from steam.

Will follow up how well that goes.

And well, As i was typing this, I instantly got a UE Fatal Error as the game loaded into the main menu.

I guess my next test will to run it as admin as much as i dont want to do that. But For Science...

For the next test, I renamed the following files and copied the same files from other game folders to see if i continue to get errors.
D3D12Core.dll
d3d12SDKLayers.dll

If that fails, I will Consider renaming the Amd one and see if there are any conflicts as a result of that.

edit - Played for about 1.5 hours and no crashes. Might be on to something with different d3d files. Ill continue testing tomorrow. but for now...sleepy time

I appreciate you doing this, because I literally can't play more than 20 minutes without crashing. I don't understand much of the process but if you can have a solution, I'll take anything.
I don't know if it's the same probleme but, each time I start the game, it crash:
-most time, juste a black screen 1s and go back to destop
- 1/10 time a error message show up 1s starting with video memory not enouth (or somethink like that) and go back to destop
- 1/10 less than 10 s of game before go back to destop
- 1 time, PC crash with blue screem

Just noticed there is an update today but No mention of the kinds of crashes we have been experiencing. Before I update, I am going to make a backup of the dxd files im currently using to test with and then run the game with nothing but the new patch to see if i still get crashes.

Im gonna install the patch and then also have steam verify the games files just to be safe.
Then im going to fresh Install the Latest nvidia driver - Driver Version:576.52.
If this doesnt work, then I will redo all of the troubleshooting i have done previously :(



If anybody else continues to crash please let me know.

Loaded up the game and alt tabbed to post a Today I learned thread with some interesting stuff, and the game crashes.

Time to perform all of the testing again ...yay.
Except this time I will start with the D3D files first since that was the most promising of the workarounds. I will test that until i crash, or have multiple hours of playtime and then i will post an update here later.

Ok.... Got about 4 hours of playtime with no crashes.

At this point I might suggest for some of the more adept computer folks to also try the the work around of replacing the 2 d3d12 files with one from another game and try it.
It would be helpful to know if this works for anybody else.

your drive here:\Steam\steamapps\common\Cash Cleaner Simulator\CashCleanerSimulator\Binaries\Win64\D3D12

You can find the files in any other game that uses Unreal Engine. You can rename the originals and just copy/paste from another game into the folder.

I am running on the newest nvidia driver and have undone any other troubleshooting aside from pushing my graphics settings back up to max and turning on frame gen and dlss.

From my own personal experiences last night and today after replacing these files from a different game, im pretty convinced that the files pushed with the game may need to be looked at from the dev side. This is either the most likely culprit, or just a massive coincidence that ive gone several hours now without a single crash after performing this workaround.

First Thank you DV-1stCav for all the work and keeping this going. I tried the DX file switch and so far (knock on wood) it is working. In my case I pulled a replacement set of files from MechWarrior5 Clans.

For anyone confused on how to try this: Open the directory for the game that DV outlined above. Open a second File Explorer and go to the steam/common and search for D3 and you should see the games with the DX folder; Copy **COPY** the files from one of those to the Cash Cleaner folder listed above and test the game for yourself. As stated by DV, only do this if you feel conformable. Otherwise wait for the Dev(s) to figure that their DX12 is corrupted and they need to push an update out.... this is not a Nvidia driver issue.
