Which is a risk of destroying large vessels in orbit.
Basicly, the Guardian took the 'Risk of Rain' by destroying the ship above the planet.
And it could also be referring to cargo and whatnot raining down from orbit.
Even the difficulties are named after precipitation - Drizzle, Rainstorm and Monsoon - and guess what those do? They decide how many monsters spawn and how strong they are as time passes.
That could just be keeping with the "rain" motif. It doesn't automatically mean the monsters are the rain.
I think the monsters came from the cargo anyway, so it kinda ties into what was said about the cargo raining down.
Besides that, I think it has to do with the hoard nature of the game (them raining like cats and dogs) and it raining shipping containers prior.
The Captain's Brooch item suggests that the vessel's name is just Contact Light, and the intro names the vessel Contact Light.
The subtexts are just side-notes for every level.
Desolate Forest and Dried Lake both say Ground Zero as in where your drop pod lands...
Damp Cavern explains that it is a Fungal Haven...
And so on.
thats just my take on it. it has obvious ties to the litteral difficulty of the game, but i doubt the title would be picked out simply due to its relation to game mechanics. the story setting seems to be a better fit to me, even if the game mechanics mirror it.
Because we can use RoR as an acronym, which is similar to LoL.
Even though they mock LoL on the Ancient Scepter's description, there is no denying that LoL is the most popular game, therefore, having a similar "nameclature" would make you think of RoR when talking about LoL.
Or is it has a really deep reason and an actually good explanation. Who knows?
I'm just passing by.
Also: Note that I'm not saying that LoL > DotA 2.
I hate dem mobas equally.
