Grabbing Rope = Difficult
Is it just me, or is it difficult to grab on to rope to climb up on? I hold up on my controller D-pad and I seem to miss grabbing a rope while jumping A LOT. The platforming is frustrating for me because of it.

I'll agree with that it seems that if you try to move at a diagonal you just stop in mid air even when using keyboard it does the same.

Thanks for that diagonal tip. It helped immensely.

that doesnt work with my gamepad, oddly enough :( that 1pixel rope grabbing is insane though
I use a keyboard to play (i find it easier than a controller amusingly) and it seems I have to completely let go of the directional keys and THEN press up on a rope. I've got the timing down pat though by this point.

shuugo, are you able to jump diagonally with your gamepad? If not, I think that's the problem. I had to change my gamepad configuration and now it works great.

There's a way to fix it but sadly you need some specific controllers. Most controllers made for fighting games have a switch that makes the d-pad act as a analog, so it detects the "moving left/right + holding up" better. Without that, there's no way other than using the analog stick or playing with the keyboard.

If Hopoo is reading this, RoR needs proper support for UpLeft and UpRight so you can jump forward and grab ropes without having to let go of the d-pad first

The d-pad bug still isn't fixed but using the analog sticks works much better for climbing. There just isn't any other reason to use the analog sticks because there's no analog/proportional control (the character moves the same speed no matter how far the stick is pushed).
