Can I unlock characters on the lowest difficulty?

It says progress is not saved, but thats rather ambigious wording, concerning unlocks.

just did 5 levels on the lowest difficulty and no character unlock although I unlocked some of the ingame achievements

Yes you can i have unlocked acrid and the enforcer on the lowest difficulty

I unlocked 2 characters on easy as well. I also got a steam achievement saying I had found the bloated survivor, but in the list of unlocks in game, it still says that one is locked

just to add my own discoveries, I was able to unlock acrid on easy, but beating 3 stages didnt unlock anything.

Yeah I just beat stage 3 on easy, no unlock here either. Unlocked some new items too but didn't get to keep them.

Unlocked 3 characters on easy. The last one just now after beating the game.

Ok just beat the game on easy, and the beat the 3rd stage achievement is still didnt trigger but the one for beating the game did.

So i guess its a bug, can anyone confirm that it can be unlocked on normal?

You can unlock some characters on easy, and not some others.

Like the 3rd Stage Achievement. You need to unlock that through normal, I believe.

easy's a good way to unlock a few characters, beats playing as commando forevor.

You can unlock several characters but you cannot unlock every one.
From my experience, you can only unlock Sniper and Engineer there...But I've yet to play Drizzle enough to see.
