Golden skull chests?

So ive spotted a few of them , never managed to open one since i rush trough the majority of the maps and they only seem to spawn in Elder temple does anyone have any idea what they do?

Don't quote me on this because i've only opened one, but it seemed to make time jump forward a few minuites.

I believe the only way is to use the Explorer's Key. When you use it, it opens all chest on screen. It's hard to find one and I'm not sure if thats the only way to open a golden chest. I have it unlocked and I saw one in Drizzle mode but never got far enough to open a golden chest. Good luck finding one in Rainstorm or Monsoon mode. As for whats inside, I don't know.

Golden chests are just more expensive and have better odds of a higher teir item inside.
There's an achievement for opening one with the explorers key though :)
