Linux Mouse Cursor Drift Fix: sudo rmmod -f joydev
Hi all, a lot of you people on Linux seem to be experiencing control issues. I can't speak for the issues everyone else is having but there is a description of the one I encountered and a means to fix it:

First, my machine is a laptop running Sabayon Linux. It was two USB inputs, one of which hosts the mouse and the other a keyboard.

When I starting Risk of Rain the mouse cursor appears but immediately begins to drift down and to the right. This makes it very hard to click menu items and start playing the game. The only way to activate menu items in the game is to push the mouse wildly up and left and try to time the click correctly.

So, that's the issue, here's the fix.

The problem is that the joydev kernel-module is loaded and, for some reason, is treating the mouse as a joystick input. As you can guess, mice are not joysticks and this causes some issues.

You can fix this issue temporaily by issuing the command rmmod -f joydev as root or using sudo (As per the thread title). This will last until you reboot or re-loaded the joydev module using insmod.

To permantently disable joydev, you need to find out where your linux distribution configures its kernel-module blacklist and add joydev.

TL;DR:
  1. Open terminal
  2. sudo rmmod -f joydev
  3. Enjoy Risk of Rain

Glad someone benefitted :-)
When I have this problem, I usually just have to do 360s with both of my sticks and it's fixed. It looks like it is a deadzone problem.

But when I plug a PS3 controller, instead or with my 360 controller, I have this bug and I can't fix it. If I remove the joydev, none of my controllers work. So I can't do local coop with 2 controllers.
Yeah, this issue affects people who don't have anything other than a mouse plugged in, so I'm not sure what relevance your post has...

PS3 pad reports bogus axis values until you press the PS button - does it work after you do that?
But how can i play with controller?
This command is disable controller module.

No clue, sorry. Also, not that removing the joydev mod seems to mess up Luftrausers...
Thanks, it works for me.
No working for me T_T.

Weird. Was joydev loaded before you tried the rmmod?

Yes T_T.

My pointer continues to drift.

It does not even work with the Xbox 360 controller.

Can you provide more info? What linux are you using? What kernel version are you on? What mouse are you using?

Anything you can think of might be useful...
If all fails you can try qjoypad
qjoypad is joy2key or xpadder for linux you map your keybaord keys to your controller easy to use has gui
