Secret area in Dried lake

Does someone know how to get to this area?

Also does someone know if this portal-like structure has any use? I found it in various places in the game but never figured if it has any use or if its just decoration.

Ps.: n front of my character there is a cracked wall, I'm thinking that maybe if I was with the miner?

You need commando there, the portal-like structure indicates that an artifact is present.

Yes. There's three buttons in there (You can see one). If you shoot all three quickly, you unlock the second artefact (Kin - only one enemy type per level). I got in there with Commando's FMJ. If you do the artifact's challenge, the artifact will be spawned in this portal, so if you see one of those, you can unlock an artifact nearby. There's one for each level (2 each on levels 1-4, one on level 5, one on final level).

Thanks guys, just got there with the commando! I suppose each artifact is activated n a different way right? Not only by those three buttons since its the first time I've seen one.

Okay, so I got it with Commando but wtf?

Can that crack in the wall be only broken with Suppressive Fire or does it require ranged attacks? Miner and Mercenary apparently couldn't get it.

hey i noticed that too i was with the loader at the time i and i saw the guy with the tip saying you need the cammando i went to the spot but... nothing it was gone?

wow i just tried again..
sometimes its there and sometimes its not

ive figured it out i also noticed down the bottom below it is a pit with a bridge over it sometimes its broken and sometimes its not
when its not THEN you can break in
