A dedicated server could tie ownership to one or more Steam UUIDs, and allow those users to change game settings and start the game after all players have readied up. They wouldn't need to stay connected for the match to continue, but the match would automatically reset to starting lobby when all players disconnect, or all players die.
Players would not be able to reconnect to the server when a match is already in progress, but it may allow a player to join and spectate the match in progress.
This!
There is no arena mode, no constant updates on either the games or themselves, just silence and a bug filled game.
