Risk Of Rain Wont Launch For Me

When ever I start to launch ROR it says "Preparing to launch Risk Of Rain" but after the text goes and the box go away nothing happens.
If it makes any difference I run Windows 10

I can't be entirely sure what will fix the issue for you, as there seems to be multiple things that can be creating it. Please try going through the following:

All of these settings can be found by right-clicking on Risk of Rain.exe and going into the Compatibility tab.
1. Try running the game in compatibility mode for Windows 7.
   
2. Try turning compatibility mode off again.
   
3. Try running RoR with Run as admin on.
   
4. Try running it with Run as admin on and in compatibility mode for Windows 7.
   
5. If any of this worked, does the game run correctly if you turn all of the compatibility settings off?

1. Make sure you aren't missing any old important updates in windows update.
   
2. Verify the integrity of your game.
   
3. Install Visual C++ 2010[www.microsoft.com].
   
4. Choose the x86 one if you're on a 32bit system and the x64 on if you're on a 64bit system.
   
5. Try installing XNA Framework.[www.microsoft.com]
   
6. Try deleting Prefs.ini from your RoR installation folder which would probably be:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Risk of Rain

The one that helped me was number six
the one where you had to delete Prefs.ini from your Risk Of Rain installation folder

Forgive me for jumping in unannounced, but I'm actually having the same problem. I've tried all of the compatibility fixes, and I've tried numbers 2 and 6 on the second list.

I wasn't even able to try 6, actually, since the Prefs.ini file wasn't in my folder when I looked for it.

Have you tried any of the other ones because it would be highly unlikely that none of these options would work

It's because you have to do the exact opposite. You have to create a Prefs.ini (and maybe a Save.ini) instead of removing it. You can simply create a .txt file and rename it to a .ini file. After doing that, paste this inside it:

fullscreen=0
scale=2
res_index=11

If that won't do, I'll send you a Save.ini you can paste inside your RoR directory. Of course, I'll remove all of my progress so you can experience the game in its entirety.

Tried 6, 5, and 3, in that order, then ran the game as an admin from the steamapps folder.

Did you go through the entire list of possible solutions I posted? I'm not really that tech savvy, so a crash log like that confuses me more than it helps me figure out why it doesn't work.
