Not Saving - No save.ini file
Every time I launch the game, all my progress is gone. No unlocks, I have to reset controllers every time. However the achievements are still shown on Steam. It has been since I bought the game.

A lot of the solutions have suggested looking at the save.ini file, and after following directions where file is located program file (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Risk of Rain, its not there. I have also tried unsyncing from Cloud.

Thank you

Same problem, cannot find answers either

my friend is having the same problem. I suggest manually getting one from a friend and see how that interacts with your game.

Yeah, I tried to help Evangelion in another thread. I suggest doing this:
  1. Make sure you aren't missing any old important updates in windows update.
  2. Install Visual C++ 2010[www.microsoft.com].
  3. Choose the x86 one if you're on a 32bit system and the x64 on if you're on a 64bit system.
  4. Still not fixed? Try installing XNA Framework.[www.microsoft.com]
  5. Try deleting Prefs.ini from your RoR installation folder which would probably be:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Risk of Rain
Perhaps you'll have to verify the integrity of your game after doing everything on the list.

Krulls tip worked for me, had to do both... win10pro...
Before this, controller was not working properly, first nothing, then had to press a while climbing down. had no ini files, save etc... those were fixed with these heavensends.
after this had problem with video, only black screen, two options there, press alt + enter while in game but black screen, for window mode (alters fullscreen and window mode) and play on window, ooor in my case vertical sync ON and it worked on fullscreen aswell. if you cant reach game with altenter, try modifying options from ini file prefs.ini.
And as I have been wondering in interwebzorwonderland, some people have issues if steam cloud is on with this game.
Krulls Thank you.
