why is this game so hard????
seriously. Can't get past stage 3 on drizzle, and only made it there once.

all the enemies are such huge bullet sponges, but you can only shoot forward, so you have to constantly run back and reposition to avoid damage, except that everything is just as fast as you so that's impossible. Meanwhile, your health is dropping like crazy and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Enemies constantly spawn next to you without warning while you're trying to heal, bosses take huge amounts of damage to kill, and the whole thing just generally seems impossible.

then the one time I make it to stage 3 the boss heals for 70 hp every half a second. WTF? my dps isn't even that high even if I could just stand there constantly shooting. And don't even get me started on the vagrant! How am I supposed to avoid that AND deal damage? same for the mini jellyfish too!

I think I'm doing something wrong. WTF am I supposed to do to not die horribly to a nonstop stream of enemies on stage 2?

okay, okay. I'm all calmed down now. Took one more shot at it, and although I just got insanely lucky, I'm getting better. It's taking me a while to adjust to the control scheme, and it's taking me a while to get used to dodging attacks properly.

that healing thing was apparently an elite type, which heals off and on while the elite is still alive.

Coming right from Risk of Rain 2 didn't help any. I did not realize the power of drones (because in RoR2, drones suck and are generally not worth the investment), and the drizzle here is harder than the drizzle in 2 (in 2 you can just sit there and not dodge any attacks and heal faster than you take damage with just a leeching seed).

becoming accustomed to the difficulty now, and just unlocked 2 new survivors! looking forward to seeing how they play, and if they are any better for me than commando.

probably my one remaining gripe is that item entries are not unlocked on drizzle. Or at least I don't think so...

sorry for the outburst. Please forgeev

Try to use anything but Commando. To be honest it's pretty bad survivor to pick.
Also you can unlock items on Drizzle diff, the thing you can't unlock on Drizzle is those monster logs.

Like Risk of Rain 2, the difficulty increases everytime, but unlike Risk of Rain 2, it increases every 9 minutes on Drizzle, 5 minutes on Rainstorm and 3 minutes on Monsoon (player count and your current stage doesn't affect the scaling speed). This means you should be going to the teleporter and get some items on the way as soon as posible.

Try to unlock Acrid. His base dps is absolutely insane and will help you take out enemies faster.

And just to make sure you know, touching the vagrant will not damage you. Only its orbs does damage. You can literally stand still and deal damage to it and only move when the orbs are being shot off. Just make sure you look out for other enemies closing in on you.

That's what I meant. Can't get monster or item logs on drizzle.

How does one unlock Acrid? I managed to get enforcer and bandit, but no clue how I can unlock Acrid.

Acrid must be defeated on the map "Sunken Tomb" which can be the 3rd stage. He might be located in the top right corner of the map. He is not a 100% sure spawn, so you will have to be lucky.

A basic tip is to learn the attack patterns and range of enemies. This game is, in my opinion, more skill based than the second one.

If you want to "cheese" the victory, you should look into unlocking the Artifact of Command. This will allow you to choose which items you get and completely remove the RNG-element of the game. Check out this guide, which includes information on how to unlock the artifacts:

Holy carp I just beat the game as bandit! Am I good yet?
Derpykat5 Jul 8, 2019 @ 2:20pm
so I played for 4 hours straight trying to unlock acrid. The aforementioned Bandit run occured in that time. RNG was being dumb and I got distracted... unlocked Sniper and HAN-D and messed with them for a bit (dying before stage 3 though). Managed to get command, though sacrifice still eludes me. Unlocked Loader whilst messing with command, and CHEF as well. Messed with both of them (CHEF is ridiculous, but difficult). Finally got to the stage I needed with the iteration that spawned Acrid, beat him as loader.

I have to admit, after 4 straight hours, I'm kinda RoR-ed out for today. I tried Acrid, they seem cool, but I don't have the energy to do another run.

It's great you're having fun. Considering the fact that you've unlocked most characters, you should look into more of the artifacts and try out different combinations of them. There is a lot of replayability to be found in this gem.

eh, I would personally keep Commando until you get bandit and then just get 5 wins with bandit, with glass, most characters are easily playable :/
Yak Jul 15, 2019 @ 3:18am
use an x box controller it makes the game so much easier
Gnorak Jul 24, 2019 @ 6:08am
the game gets easier the more you understand enemies behavior and how you should progress through the stages (when to loot, trigger teleporter, etc.)

artifacts can make the game a pushover (glass, command, sacrifice, kin and farm lemurians on stage 1 for an hour)

unlocking certain items might help aswell depending on your playstyle / survivor

dont be afraid to lookup things on the wiki.. knowledge is power!

I feel like the game is not hard enough tbh
Nitaire Jul 25, 2019 @ 1:08pm
The game is challenging and engaging.

EDIT: enraging* just leaving it so you know why it's edited.

I disagree, the Commando is one of the most solid and balanced classes in RoR.
Perfect starting class. Easy to handle, challenging to master.

No.
Also I don't usually say brash things like this but... if you have little skill into RoR no character or item will save you from death.
