first visual novel on Steam
The Kickstarter page for this project bills DS:LtMC as "the first pure visual novel available on the platform" (Steam). Seeing as this VN was published on 4 Apr 2013, is this even true? [Edit: Going by the News, it was online on Steam on 26 Sep 2013.]

"Analogue (A Hate Story)" came out on 27 Apr 2012 and bills itself as a "dark visual mystery novel".
"Fading Hearts" predates even that.
Are they not "pure" enough?

(And I'm not even counting "Kentucky Route Zero", which , going by the structure of the interaction, works like a Visual Novel, but has a much different graphical style and allows your avatar to run around the scenery.)

Fading Hearts is a (relatively) old visual novel, but it was only released on Steam last month.

DysSys may not have been the first visual novel to be released on Steam, but it was the first to go through Greenlight. I assume that's what they meant on the Kickstarter page.

Long Live the Queen is a (relatively) old life sim, and was released on Steam a few months after Dysfunctional Systems.

"Pure" as in "all it is is reading something like a novel and making choices". Analogue: A Hate Story also has a command line interface and a log system. It is not a pure VN, it's more like a game.

That helps me understand the perameters of a VN, as I'm new to them. The first one I tried (though does include small TBS combat off/on) was Loren The Amazon Princess. That one was ok, so I decided to try another and got this one. No offense but I'm not too crazy about the artstyle (though it's not, it does remind me of anime- which I don't care for), but I heard the story is supposed to be good, so I'm hoping it's good enough to keep me interested and not too silly. If it goes ok, I may buy the next. Hope to start this one in a day or 2. :gold_loren:
