There will of course be no patches, as its a game from 2009 - released unfinished because the publisher forced the game out 6 months before it was ready, then canned the dev team
:(
Most issues are caused by trying to run it at display settings it was never designed to run. The original PC version back in 2009 was designed to max out at roughly 1440p and roughly 60fps.
Attempting to run it with any modern upscaling/GPU hub changes , at 100hz+ or at very high res/ultra wide etc. will always cause major issues.
My advice would be to whack it on max settings, 2k res and 75hz or less, then enjoy :)
Its definitely perfectly playable as I completed the Origin version with 60+ hours played, no gamebreaking bugs, crashes or anything like that - its just minor jank from the original unfinished game.
The problem is either your hardware, or drivers and other OS crap. Here are my specs on an updated 2015 custom-built rig:
MBD: MSI Z490-A Pro (MS-7C75) w/Intel Z490 chipset
CPU: i9-10900F 2.8 GHz 10-Core/20-Thread (water-cooled)
GPU: nVIDIA (Gigabyte) GeForce GTX-1660 Super Windforce / 6 GB GDDR6
RAM: 16 GB Crucial Ballistix UDIMM Gaming Memory, DDR4/3600 1.3V
OSD: Crucial NVMe M.2 2 TB SSD @2400 MB/s
PSU: 750 W EVGA 80+ Gold
OS: Windows 11 x64 Home 22H2 (10.0.22631)
Network: AC600 Nano WiFi 433 Mbps/ Bluetooth 4.2
SCR: 27" 2560x1440 144 Hz ViewSonic IPS (VX2768-2KP)
I think you're confusing GOG with something else, like abandonware sites.
