I could love this game, but...

This game is really interesting, and it has so many things I like, but it runs just too fast for me.
The main problems are:
1. You have to fast forward before you can pause - with me playing at my laptop with just a touch panel this means at least 10-20% of the day are gone until I can pause the game.
2. The game automatically ends the paused mode when you for example sell a potion or look for contracts.
It would be great if you could pause and fast forward the game independent through keys. Also the pause mode should stay active until you end it.
If those things could be done, I guess the game would be on my wishlist in an instant, but at the moment it's more frustrating for me because it looks so likable to me, but I just can't manage to get things done in time.
