How in the hell do you "play" this game?!
Seriously, if this thing requires REAL coding knowledge just to play it then why in the flying hell would ANYONE play this game, let alone pay for it when they could hack steam servers and download it illegally?

At its core it's a puzzle game. The 'hacking' is based on real life, but still very much 'gamified'. You're essentially trying to work out solutions based on hints you get using the tools you're given. Fairly niche I guess, but fun for those who enjoy solving puzzles in a hacker setting. There's no requirement to have real coding knowledge.

I know enough about coding to know its asking you to use actual coding commands in their proper structure as defined in the programming language. For non-coders that's like saying: Here's a Spanish speaking game with no subtitles, have fun trying to figure wtf to do without a translator!

Not to mention it set my CPU temp skyrocketing which makes me sus that this game is running something in the background. I checked my processes and I found a lot of suspicious exes running, though all were under the "hack simulator" name.

That was enough for me to uninstall and refund this game.

It's easy enough to learn and play. Even though I've a decade of experience in the Cyber Security industry I would say for a newbie it would be fairly easy to learn, just a little bit of dedication to it (Which comes with enjoying the core game).

As for suspicious processes, I highly doubt anything is going on there.

Make sure you enable V-Sync and limit fps to 60 to reduce usage.

I am no programmer and I enjoy it plenty. Some things are tricky, takes some thinking and testing. If you can't progress check out the youtube playthrough for some help on the way.

Edit: oh and also, the title says "Hacker simulator", did that not give you a hint on what this is gonna be like? You could also have played the free demo version to get an idea of the game.

For anyone who reads this, there are no 'coding commands'. There is no 'programming language'. What this person is trying to say is that the commands are used in their correct syntax. Spoiler alert, they mostly aren't. There are tutorial jobs to start with. There is help on Discord. Old mate here knows nothing about coding. I know sweet stuff all myself, couldn't code my way out of a wet paper bag. Couldn't even 'hello world' in Python without a tutorial.

Like I said, it's basically a puzzle game. All of the commands come with a help function, and are explained the first time you use them. It would almost be harder to play as an actual cyber-security professional because it's gamified rather than real life.

I'm playing on a laptop with a gtx 1050, and I've had my fans running way higher on other games. Sure, I locked my fps to 30, but I've gotta do that with most things these days. Everything still set to ultra.

It's annoys me to hear comments like this. If it's not your bag, fine. Get a refund and move on with your life. This kind of game isn't everyone's cup of tea, but you could say that about every genre. If you enjoy pretending you're a hacker and problem solving, you'll probably have a good time.

my cpu temp skyrocketing and the sus exe processes are what ultimately made me refund. Like this is an EXTREMELY SIMPLISTIC game, there's no reason for it to make my cpu run hot like this. Even if the dev isn't using my pc to run a freaking bitcoin farm in the background(like i suspect having experience in bitcoin mining and seeing eerily similar symptoms) it means he didn't code something right if its making my cpu run hot.

I've ran similar graphical quality games and it never made my cpu temp skyrocket.

I have zero knowledge of coding before playing this. I just followed the information given, and solved the puzzles. It was fun, immersive, and funny. I guess go back and play a different style game if you don't like it? But this definitely taught me how to use some of this code, and I'm now getting a linux computer to learn more.

You claim that people "hack" steam servers to download illegal games and then also claim that you know how to code.

I find that hard to believe tbh. I think you are just throwing a tantrum because you do not understand how to play the game. At least this seems to be a VERY common trope for you.

I have absolutely zero coding knowledge and I am loving this game. There have been two occasions where I got stuck and had to look up how to move forward, but in both instances I was stuck due to me overlooking something. This game is pretty fun.

easiest hacking game i played. coding is not that hard to play with it. you could try tis-100 bitburner (last one is free). this games eating your time af. they are much more interesting than this one.
don't fool around - you have to adapt and be smart to do some hobbies like puzzle games. Otherwise you always welcome in EA sports 'games'.

This is how you know a person doesn't actually know how actual invasion techniques work. They go by what holywood portays as a hacker in movies.
