Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Microtransactions and missable content/FOMO
I've been playing the PlayStation 5 Beta and thought I'd stop by to share that the game feels made for tons of microtransactions and missable seasonal content/FOMO from the ground up. The menus, the currency icons and much more makes it feel just like Chocobo GP and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Gameplay-wise, it plays a lot more like Mario Kart Tour (narrow roads + power-up spamming) than Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed or Sonic Riders. Sad.

Which honestly makes me wonder how much SEGA is planning on charging for this game. Would have to be a lot cheaper to justify any microtransactions.

Are you surprised? We've known that their upcoming Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi reboots are going to be live service games with predatory monetization for months.

Yes, I am. Because no matter how much time has passed, I can't get around the idea of a game having abusive microtransactions on top of being buy to play. Being designed from the ground up to be like that? Even worse. Especially when people have been so hopeful for a new first-party Sonic racing game. Why even put any effort in a game that's going to be ruined by such a business model?

I'm happy staying with Ring Racers but that doesn't make this situation any less of a shame.
