Opening doors silently?
Is it possible to open doors silently instead of kicking them? (Does the kicking actually alert enemies?)

The kicking does alert enemies, if you look right as your trooper kicks in the door you can see a white circle, all the bad guys within the circle are alerted.
If you have a Stealth trooper, they can open the door silently, and I'm pretty sure there's a mod in the workshop that lets all troopers open the doors without noise, but I don't know if it's updated for Beta or not.

There were talks about having multiple ways of opening a door for all classes but there hasn't been any word about it for a long time so I don't know if it's on the to do list.

We are currently investigating an all-action-switch in the vein of Swat 3, taking the trooper from dynamic to silent and viceversa. Silent mode would mean opening doors by hand and also holding fire when not compromised, regardless of class / weapon setup.

However this is not 100% decided and we haven't yet found a way to fit this without overcomplicating the interface.

Lockpicking entry is quiet too, right? I did that for the first time the other day :)

Yeah ... not as quiet as placing a breaching charge, though. But then, just placing the breaching charge doesn't do much good.

If you're trying to go in quiet, using a breaching charge may not exactly be the best option in that approach. I tend to save my breaches for end of mission rooms like bank vaults or final holdouts after we've gone loud outside of them.

Funny how people tend to go different ways isn't it?
I use my breach (if I use it at all) for the very first locked door. Shock and awe, and all that.
If I come across something locked later, I have it wrenched open with at least 1 other trooper standing by to cover the guy opening the door.

The one thing I find really funny is that if you send your troop to work on those locked doors, one option is to pick the lock, after its picked, he still kicks the door down. Not sure if that will alarm the enemy.

Make him hold for Alpha and he won't kick the door down.

Will be fixed in the next update :)

Does not seem to be fixed in the current release.

Switch to a silent weapon (pistol or maingun) and your troopers open doors silence.
