Any reason to use pistols?
After unlocking assult/stealth rifles and smgs seem to work fine close quarters, and in confined spaces.

Hi,

pistols and be useful when speed is mandatory. Pointman is quickier than any other class.

Also pistols are very useful to breachers as backup weapon when there are too many enemies and shotguns have too few ammo.

Last, shieldman use pistols.

I see. I've always been a slow, methodical type see, and I also like to make use of a combo of shields and heavy firepower

I would avoid spoilers but... some missions will require a quicker approach...

Pointmen are far faster and have extra movement advantages. They can take down lightly armoured troops fast and efficiently....however they will be at a disadvantage vs armoured troops.

You can also use silenced pistols when you don't want to alert the enemies.

Mozambique drill actually takes out armored targets more effectively than anything else. :)
Also when entering a room pointman can fire at all times, if you look closely operators carrying long weapons often put their weapon down and are unable to shoot if they are too close to the door frame or even a corner. Little details like those make this game fantastic. You must really pay attention to your waypoints and line of fire. I definitely use pointman to buytime for the bigger guns.

Mozambique Drill is REALLY powerful, especially with the Shadow Pistol. Anything within 8 meters of your troopers is dead, dead, dead.

Mozambique Drill is an unlockable doctrine based on the real Mozambique technique: "two to the chest, one to the head"

The best thing about the Mozambique drill is that the head is always unarmored.
The special pistol attacks Double Tap and Mozambique work only in the short distance (1.5m - 8m) and are not used by the shield class.

Yeah, an that brings in the question of dealing with armored targets at long range, which is not depicted adequately in the game. :(

Yeah, long range shootouts wtih armored enemies is one of the hardest things in the game.
Even if you use heavy armor and and cover it depends on luck. :luck:
By far the best weapons for this are the MK 17 and the Bren A1.
An idea which is worth a try: Protect your assault gunner by a team mate with shield (Ironman Shield!).

The best tip: Stinger grenades can fly over the whole map with 100% precision and kill in close range. :srfrag:

They're not just hard, they're illogical and unrealistic, and that really sticks out considering overall high quality of game design. Long bursts at long range and no shock from bullet hits is total BS. :(

You are right. I also don't like it if the enemies have to much advantages.
I think the devs thought it's a cheap way to create hard challenges for the the player.

Things like impact shock would work both ways, if they were implemented. So, here's my hopes for DK2. :)
