Will it be free?
I can only guess it will be free, since it is free already. What do you think? And if they are looking for money, how will monetization work?

It's free, you can buy tc to put stuff on your tori. But it's only cosmetic with no benefit to the actual gameplay.

Moneitization comes in the form of buying tori credits instead of earning them by grinding wins on offical servers / winning tournament prize pools. I think they also sell 'boosts' that can double the ammount of curreny you get per win.

as previously stated, they're the pointless cosmetics
well, CLEARLY you didn't read the game info, it said free to play.

"Free to play" has very little meaning nowadays, and is seldom truly free.

Cheers for clarifying, guys. Good to know the paid stuff is cosmetic.

To me "Free to Play" = micro-transactions. Steam could do with having other categories for "Free and Open Source" and "Free" without micro-transactions just so we have a better idea of what we're getting into. But since Toribash seems to fit the micro-transactions bit, maybe "Free to Play" should be split into "Cosmetic" and pretty darn "Essential" micro-transactions.

That would be awesome. Games like path of exile do have the micro transactions but they are bassically cosmetic. All f2p games should be like this :)

Agreed, I've always despised the perversion of what free really means. Felt really glad to have found some rare jewels in this category, like Warframe where the grinders may get the best equipment, while the cashers may get them earlier, their firepower are the same.
I hope that any microtransactions will be only over cosmetic content, because a clueless player, wielding a newly bought super powerful killing machine, spoils any fun and real challenge in the pvp.
For what it's worth, the last time I checked (which was admittedly a considerable while ago), the cosmetics system was completely pants-on-head idiotic past the fact that that's the only thing you're paying for. It was something like between $5 and $20 to change your blood color depending on which color you wanted (also consider that there are a LOT of parts to customize one at a time), and most of the customization options were available in limited quantities, meaning they were perpetually sold out anyway.

I'd gladly have given them a little cash to customize my joints and blood a little, but not like that.

Otherwise though, yes, game's completely free and I love messing around in it.

I think most people get tori credits through tournaments.

The difference is that while toribash has other options available for purchasing items, every single item in toribash is available to every single player through hard work and dedication. Most players earn tc by winning duels and tourmeys, selling textures, and buying/selling on the market. It's perfectly feasible to get top tier items without paying a cent and nothing about cosmetics affects gameplay. You could play the whole game with exactly the same skill level as a person with the cosmetics and never notice a difference.
