Honestly, I dont know if its worth $70 (esp since price keeps hiking up) for automatic updates, mybe should've stuck with free download and a premium subscription. But Im sure in the future it'll be made worth it. It's okay if you wish to support the developers, but seeing as there's not even any premium benefits thrown in... a yikes from me. I've been a loyal user of this program for YEARS, buying all the brushes, textures, etc, and recently a premium subscription and the paid version but it really doesn't add much. Gradient maps and onion skin are great, but they should be apart of the free program, imo. It really doesn't add all that much that other free programs like Firealpaca don't already offer.

That being said I will continue to be a loyal supporter (I am part of the problem lmao), but the price hikes on this also boggle me. Even after 156 hours in program, I STILL don't believe it's worth the cost.

Been using Medibang for years now, having bought the steam version over a year ago to continue with the program.
Simple UI makes it great for beginners, however with the new "Medibang Premium" I cannot suggest ever purchasing the Steam Version at all. Having to pay for software features and then being forced to pay a subscription for features that was once free is a great way to lose your users.

EDIT: With one update they made the entire thing glitchy :(

Every piece of digital art I have ever created was on this software for free. I gave them money for automatic updates on steam without a second thought, I am glad to support these homies who gave me their drawing software for free 6 years ago. God bless them, everyone.

You can use the software for free by downloading it on their website, come back to steam and give them money when you can, auto updates are sick.

I got this to support the devs, I hope there's more added for 50 dollars :< its quite expensive for a normally free to use app. I hope they add more steam stuff so we get our money's worth, so far the app is very easy to understand, my art skill isnt that great but I enjoy doodling and making OCs in this app. I'll keep an eye on it if more is added. you can easily download medibang free from their app if you wanna try it, I've got it on multiple platforms as it was my first art program I used.

Honestly, medibang is the best art program I've ever used. I've been using it for about 6-7 years. I've been trying to find an animation software like medibang and I've just found myself frustrated.

So I got the steam version of medibang. For what it is (just the free version with two new features) if you're not going to animate, save your money. Steam version also doesn't come with premium. I think that's a bit of a rip off since I paid 70 dollars for it.

Overall, the program is good and user friendly. But for what you get in this version, if you're not going to use them. Don't get the steam version.


Edit: I may sound frustrated, since I am a little, but this 70 dollar program also doesnt offer you any extra cloud storage? I find that quite absurd. I have drawings from 2017-18 that I don't wish to part with. This 70 dollar program is a half finished version of premium.

Possibly 3,5K hours in non steam version, I bought it to support the developers.

The program is very good, but I refunded it because for that price and even though it is on sale at 30%, it is not worth buying, since the animation mode is very basic, also the gradient mode is very good, but it is not the great thing and it has a new 3d perspective mode that is interesting, but with only those 3 exclusive options, it is not worth leaving the free version, I recommend purchasing the program when it drops to 50% or when they add more exclusive functions, otherwise Otherwise it is not worth having it on Steam.

El programa es muy bueno, pero lo reembolsé porque por ese precio y aun estando en oferta del 30%, no vale la pena comprarlo, ya que el modo de animación es muy básico, también el modo gradiente es muy bueno, pero tampoco es la gran cosa y tiene un modo nuevo de perspectiva 3d que es interesante, pero con solo esas 3 opciones exclusivas, no vale la pena dejar la versión gratis, recomiendo comprarse el programa cuando baje al 50% o cuando le agreguen más funciones exclusivas, de lo contrario no vale la pena tenerlo en Steam.

I've had the free version for about 4 years, and decided to buy this to support and animate.
Before you buy this I recommend trying the free version, to see if it's the right art program for you.

Edit: And now as of the 32.0 update you can use paid brushes/materials for free if you have bought the steam version. Meaning you can have the subscription for Medibang Paint premium or just buy the steam version once and have unlimited access to those materials without paying for a subscription.

Honestly? It's not worth it. Just get the free version. I've been using the free one for over five years.

I thought there'd be new features but after months of using it there doesn't seem to be any plans for anything new to be added. You don't even get the premium brushes/features - they're separate purchases. And the Steam-exclusive portions are.. a bit meh.

I only really use the Onion Skin out of the, what, four Steam features it has? Considering they have a barebones animation support built into their other program, FireAlpaca, which is completely free already and has been out for a very long time, I don't know why it's the only major asset to the $70 version of Medibang. FireAlpaca has a LOT of issues obviously since it's been out a long time, but before the Steam version of Medibang came out I was using it just for the Onion Skin mode and importing my frames from Medibang.

That being said, a lot of good programs out there now are paid / subscription based, and I've gotten so used to using the free version of Medibang that I've just gotten really attached to it. The amount of hours I've sunk into this program + the free version easily makes up for the cost I spent on this, I think. I see it as more of a donation to the creators that made the programs I grew up using.

I'm going to keep using it because I paid for it, but I would've been just as happy with the free version. You should probably only buy this if you plan on doing animation / if you already are comfortable with the program. Or, of course, if you want to support the company.

I love Medibang Paint, but I can't recommend buying it.
