Honestly, I dont know if its worth $70 (esp since price keeps hiking up) for automatic updates, mybe should've stuck with free download and a premium subscription. But Im sure in the future it'll be made worth it. It's okay if you wish to support the developers, but seeing as there's not even any premium benefits thrown in... a yikes from me. I've been a loyal user of this program for YEARS, buying all the brushes, textures, etc, and recently a premium subscription and the paid version but it really doesn't add much. Gradient maps and onion skin are great, but they should be apart of the free program, imo. It really doesn't add all that much that other free programs like Firealpaca don't already offer.

That being said I will continue to be a loyal supporter (I am part of the problem lmao), but the price hikes on this also boggle me. Even after 156 hours in program, I STILL don't believe it's worth the cost.

Been using Medibang for years now, having bought the steam version over a year ago to continue with the program.
Simple UI makes it great for beginners, however with the new "Medibang Premium" I cannot suggest ever purchasing the Steam Version at all. Having to pay for software features and then being forced to pay a subscription for features that was once free is a great way to lose your users.

EDIT: With one update they made the entire thing glitchy :(

Every piece of digital art I have ever created was on this software for free. I gave them money for automatic updates on steam without a second thought, I am glad to support these homies who gave me their drawing software for free 6 years ago. God bless them, everyone.

You can use the software for free by downloading it on their website, come back to steam and give them money when you can, auto updates are sick.

I got this to support the devs, I hope there's more added for 50 dollars :< its quite expensive for a normally free to use app. I hope they add more steam stuff so we get our money's worth, so far the app is very easy to understand, my art skill isnt that great but I enjoy doodling and making OCs in this app. I'll keep an eye on it if more is added. you can easily download medibang free from their app if you wanna try it, I've got it on multiple platforms as it was my first art program I used.

Honestly, medibang is the best art program I've ever used. I've been using it for about 6-7 years. I've been trying to find an animation software like medibang and I've just found myself frustrated.

So I got the steam version of medibang. For what it is (just the free version with two new features) if you're not going to animate, save your money. Steam version also doesn't come with premium. I think that's a bit of a rip off since I paid 70 dollars for it.

Overall, the program is good and user friendly. But for what you get in this version, if you're not going to use them. Don't get the steam version.


Edit: I may sound frustrated, since I am a little, but this 70 dollar program also doesnt offer you any extra cloud storage? I find that quite absurd. I have drawings from 2017-18 that I don't wish to part with. This 70 dollar program is a half finished version of premium.

Honestly? It's not worth it. Just get the free version. I've been using the free one for over five years.

I thought there'd be new features but after months of using it there doesn't seem to be any plans for anything new to be added. You don't even get the premium brushes/features - they're separate purchases. And the Steam-exclusive portions are.. a bit meh.

I only really use the Onion Skin out of the, what, four Steam features it has? Considering they have a barebones animation support built into their other program, FireAlpaca, which is completely free already and has been out for a very long time, I don't know why it's the only major asset to the $70 version of Medibang. FireAlpaca has a LOT of issues obviously since it's been out a long time, but before the Steam version of Medibang came out I was using it just for the Onion Skin mode and importing my frames from Medibang.

That being said, a lot of good programs out there now are paid / subscription based, and I've gotten so used to using the free version of Medibang that I've just gotten really attached to it. The amount of hours I've sunk into this program + the free version easily makes up for the cost I spent on this, I think. I see it as more of a donation to the creators that made the programs I grew up using.

I'm going to keep using it because I paid for it, but I would've been just as happy with the free version. You should probably only buy this if you plan on doing animation / if you already are comfortable with the program. Or, of course, if you want to support the company.

I love Medibang Paint, but I can't recommend buying it.

I Paid £40 for this software with the understanding from advertisements that I would be receiving a lifetime premium version, this was not the case.

I paid to download the software with no ads, that is it.
£40 to get no ads, when the software can be downloaded for free from their site and is less than £13 a year to have premium.

You do not get brushes or any special features that is not givin in the normal web download version, £40 to just get no ads is insane, that should be like 3 years of maximum


Gutted as i love Medibang software, and will now delete it from Steam,to redownload it from Medi site and then pay for the yearly subscription.

I literally cannot in good conscious recommend the paid version in the state it's currently in. The free version of this app never crashed or froze on me in all 5+ years I've been using it, but I've experienced multiple crashes in the span of 10 hours using the paid version. The features you get with payment are minimal and not worth it. Just use the free version and if you're in the need of an animation feature download a separate free program. I was already on thin ice with these developers after they made the mobile version basically adware, and now I just feel like an idiot for daring to trust them to make something good of a program they clearly don't care about except for money. Make good with you money by spending it on literally anything else.

i paid for this application because i figured maybe the steam client version would be useful in some way, but no; its the site version (which is free there) except its 60 bucks and nothing changes. they dont even give you premium for spending 60 dollars to install it through steam, there are no extra special features, more bugs than id even noticed on the free version, and certain features are so bad i dont even consider using them.

if youre considering buying this and you have the money, just get a license for paint tool sai and install the second version. youll save yourself a whole lot of cash and frustration, and get a software that honestly has much better blending and tool accessibility.

I own MediBang Pro (where all of this was free mind you). The fact that I had to buy the software again because they cut support for the pro version AND now all the brushes I used as well as multiple tools located through the cloud are now locked behind ANOTHER paywall made me instantly refund the software. Don't waste your time with this garbage and spend your money on another art program that won't lock everything useful behind a bunch of different subscription paywalls.
Edit: I should mention (since it's nowhere on the Steam page), all the features they claim are included require you to pay for a reoccurring subscription to their cloud service. Otherwise you're just forking out $70 for the same free version they have on their website.
