[support] Failing to launch the game: KERNELBASE.dll error
When I press the Play button, nothin happens and after 5 seconds a message with "SalvationProphecy.exe has stopped working" pops up. I've checked the game file cache, deleted the local content and re-downloaded.

I've checked previous threads here and after following the instructions haven't found any local logs. The Windows event viewer has the error reported with the following EventData:

SalvationProphecy.exe
0.0.0.0
53db83e4
kernel32.dll
6.0.6002.18704
5065ccb6
e06d7363
0003fc16
14c0
01d04a475013c230

What can I do?

Sorry for the troubles. Are you running any anti-virus? Avast in particular has caused problems.

Only Windows Security Essentials is running. I've tried disabling it just now, but didn't work.

I have one other player who is experiencing the same issue. I need to figure out what is the common problem with yours and his computer.
Can you run a dxdiag[windows.microsoft.com], click "Save All Information...", and then email me the file it generates?

Quick update: I've had 3 reports of this problem now. That's a very small fraction of the people who have bought the game, but there is obviously something there.

The most difficult part is that the crash isn't in Salvation Prophecy code - but rather in a core Windows code (kernel32.dll ). I've seen reports of this issue in a whole bunch of other games and windows apps in general, but it's not clear yet whether it is a problem with the application, or some system problem.

I'm still digging. More to come.
Thanks for your patience.

I just wanted to update this thread with what I have discovered while researching KERNELBASE.dll crashes.

It appears a very small number of users across many different games and windows programs experience this crash. In the majority of cases where a solution was found, it had to do with the computer system, and not the game. Some common solutions are as follows:

Reinstall the visual studio redistributable:
1. Download this file: vcredist_x86.exe
2. From here: https://backup.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=8c6e6a87606576bcaa69
3. Double click and run it
4. Then try launching the game when it is done.

run sfc.exe /scannow

Update Windows, all redistributables (pay special attention to .Net Framework). Run as an admin if you aren't already

Update your drivers.

Ran a repair install of Win7 this evening and the problem is resolved

Run as a different user (a corrupt windows user profile is a common source of this error).

Here's a list of links to other places/games where this crash is discussed, and may have additional useful info.
