He ignored the pop-up with instructions telling you to bind your account and never did apparently. How unfortunate.

guys i know how to solve the problem stuck in loading screen (cloud, tifa, baret). remember first you must link data and saved to squarenix member for me. Then you delete account. Your game start from begining. Just follow it. Next you back to main screen, from the option choose link data then login to squarenix member. Automatically your account is back. Then you can login normal. I hope you can get back your account same like me. Thanksyou.

Sadly I didnt link my account thinking it was tied to my Steam ID....

Your issue was a complete accident. This was, "I skipped the popup and didn't bind my account. oopsie." type of thing. ;)

No, it is tied to Applibots cloud system.

Same happened to me, I had tried before to link my account but I only got error messages, when the reset happened I tried to see if something had been linked previously, and the new account at 0 got linked instead
