Dino Run DX
Local Multiplayer?
This is definitely the type of game that should have it, but it's not listed in the tags.
Does this game have local multiplayer?

Alright, well... I think I'll be holding off on it until then.
Tell me if you add it :D
How many PCs can play this game at once right now?

And if you do do a local multiplayer addition, how many players are you aiming to support?

Not really sure. I guess it would be split screen 2 / 4 way?

That would make the most sense, and would be the simplest solution.

And i guess we need to support... 4 controllers? How does one do that with USB? Guess you need a hub of some sort.

Wireless receiver.

You could use a hub or wireless receiver or all the USB ports on your computer. I have 10 on mine not counting hubs.

Does the game support only up to 4 players now? I saw a pic or vid that had 5 I thought.

And you can support up to 16 players on one system, but all the big party games on Steam have 8. From what I've heard, you have to run the controllers, even X-Input ones, in D-Input mode to get more than 4. Might not be true anymore since Xbox One controller drivers support up to 16 so there might be something else going on.

"all the big party games on Steam have 8"
No... That's not true at all. The standard for local co-op games is 4 players.
Co-op? I thought Dino Run was versus.

A small error, although the local co-op tag is commonly used for any local multiplayer game as well.
If it's versus, then a lot of newer big party games on Steam are 8P local: Gang Beasts, Jack Box Party Pack (5 games), Knight Squad, Quiplash, BlazeRush, ClusterPuck 99, A Fistful of Gun (9 players), ScreenCheat, and Mount Your Friends are the ones I own.

All I wanna know is if this game requires multiple PCs right now to play multiplayer and if so, how many people can play at once. Then I can make a cost analysis and say "ok, it plays up to 4 people, but I have to buy 4 copies" or "I can have up to 8 people playing, I have 6 Steam accounts, this looks like it'd be fun for a group of people" etc etc.

Those are very much the minority. My point still stands: The standard is 4.

Also, from the ones you listed, it should be obvious why they work with more players, yet most games wouldn't.
ClusterPuck, Mount Your Friends, and Gang Beasts are all GREAT examples of ones that have extremely obvious reasons for why they're exceptions.
ClusterPuck and Gang Beasts both play out on the same screen at all times and are in a format that works with more players. Mount Your Friends.... I mean, that's TURN-BASED... C'mon.

The standard and most common amount of players (for obvious reasons) in a local versus game is: 4 players

For local co-op games, the standard is 2 players, but often 4 as well.

-Not many people even own more than 4 controllers.
-Most local games wouldn't work with more players purely because of the format.
-Aside from those two points.... Most local games would just turn into a complete spamfest with more than 4 players.
