Certain characters will have different stages that others may not get (for example Lilac and Carol start with Dragon Valley and do not go to Aqua Tunnel, but Milla will start on Aqua Tunnel and not go to Dragon Valley).

so should I replay the game after I finish it, to choose different options?

Well if you wish to see all the stages possible you'll have to play as atleast Lilac and Milla (as Carol doesn't have a special stage that's unique to her only), every character has a different play style so I'd recommend playing all of them at least once to see who you enjoy most.

Something else to note as well, if you're in the Freedom Planet Beta branch you can also play as a upcoming character Torque, but he's only available in time attack mode and he can currently only play Dragon Valley, Fortune Night, Sky Battalion, Battle Glacier and Final Dreadnought 1,2 and 3.

Hope I'm explaining this well enough.

3 of the 5 characters will unlock after certain parameters are met. Milla is unlocked after completing Relic Maze once, Torque is unlocked after beating the game with two different characters, Spade will more than likely be unlocked after beating the game once.

How long is the game?

How long is the game?

Expect two and a half hours for Adventure and shave about thirty minutes off that for Classic per character, depending on how well you play. Your own skill level can cause time variances (my first game clear was just over three hours, most recent was 74 minutes). The game gives you an achievement for clearing in 90 minutes of in-stage time (cutscenes aren't counted for this).

would 2 playthroughs do everything?

Even if not, the beaten stages will be unlocked later in Time Attack mode so you can replay any of it (or choose to start from any level in the save file with beaten game, kinda like Sonic 3 save files system worked) so do not worry, you'll start from the very beginning only if you want too, or just want to see how another characters plays or which unique levels\routes\story cutscenes they have (or try to do a particular achievements).

Actually, to unlock all levels as a character you have to play through the entire game as that character, so even if you unlock Thermal Base or Relic Maze as Lilac you have to unlock them again for Carol and Milla.

so does that mean I play it 2 times or 3?

Well earlier I was just talking about simply seeing all the stages, if you want all the stages available for every character you'll need to playthrough the game as every character. So you'll need to beat the game 3 times (1 for every character).

so having every level unlocked, not for all characters takes 2 playthroughs, but for all characters unlocked for all stages takes 3 playthroughs?
