Spade Fight
I haven't gotten through the entire game yet so there's always a chance there's another fight with him, but, the first fight with Spade feels really cheap. I can't figure out his pattern whatsoever. i just spammed attacks and jumped a lot randomly and hoped to kill him first before me, and it worked. My friend said the same thing and beat him like that too.

That's uh...not good design for a boss. I'm sure I was missing something but the difficulty of the encounter makes no sense, the peacock right after him is easier and easier to learn its patterns, as well as Neena in the next level. Maybe they felt Spade needed to be lumped in earlier but forgot to adjust to the difficulty curve?

Tell me watcha'll think. "you suck/stop blaming the game" comments are welcome. :D

When he's on the ground, he'll throw cards. Soon after, he jumps and throws cards towards the ground.

That's...... his entire pattern aside from him running around until you're in sight.
Why you had trouble is whatever, some people can't figure out specific style.

Spade actually has a weakness....
Try going to the ledge of the area to the left. Boost jump up there. Taunt then diagonally dragon boost Down Right into him.
Do this 4 to 5 times and he is kaputsky.

Totally easy when you are doing Speed Runs for sure.

Now the problem is with Carols fight....I think you have to use those jump pads in the arena and use her Pounce attack when his back is turned. That way you can deal quite a bit of damage to him.

I had an unreasonable amount of trouble with this guy too, compared to the other bosses around him. Yeah he uses only two moves, but he was practically unapproachable during either of them. I've beaten him three times, and every single one of them felt like brute force and luck.
I just managed to beat the fight in a pretty reliable manner with Carol, just avoid him using the floor plates until your meter charges and use the invulnurability-special move on him when he comes in.

Repeat until done, took him down rather quickly using this tactic.

I beat him pretty quick with both characters by sticking on top of him and attacking relentlessly. You can cut most of his attacks short this way. You might still soak up a lot of damage, but there's a ton of health right after him.

This might actually be terrible advice.
For Carol - and Carol only - in Trap Hideout you can exploit the game.

Before you descend into the pit of KILL 99 NINJAS! , go up the top above the shield. If you get to the very top and then do jump attacks (on the bike) you'll be able to actually damage Spade from there.

You'll want to do four jump attacks - doing five bugs the game out, as that's all his health gone... but he's still there. Things start bugging out very shortly. :P

Funny thing milla has a super easy time fighting him you can block all his attacks as her and get him in a loop and get a easy win on him.

So are comments still welcome even after a year? If so, Spade was so hard in Carol's story (Second fight) that I had to lower the game difficulty from Normal to Easy to win.

I just abused the hell out of carols invincibility frames during her special. When I ran out I just kept running till it refilled. ez win.

And 2 more years later... I managed to beat Spade with Carol (second fight) by keeping my bike after the 99 ninjas fight, driving to one edge of the arena, then up to the ceiling, jumping down and attacking in the air. If Spade is on the ground, I just land and boost toward him to hit him directly with the bike. Even if I miss 3 times out of 4, at least the move is relatively safe as long as I drive into the opposite direction and repeat the process symmetrically. I still got hit a few times and lost my bike, but it was enough to deal him a good amount of damage. Besides, I could do the same tactics just by running (although the boost attack is not possible), and a few air attacks finished him.
