What's the deal with Spade?

He just seems like a character randomly inserted to be edgy as ♥♥♥♥. It's like this games version of Shadow as far as I can tell. Does he even have a backstory? It just seemed that it was like "WHOA LOOK AT ME IM SO COOL AND EDGY WOW I THROW CARDS WANNA FIGHT"

Everything Spade does, Dail does, only worse.

That said, Spade's purpose in the plot is shown, hand down. He's a bad guy, until he's a good guy. Then he sets the Thermal Base's self destruct sequence, and then, presumably, beats some sense into Dail while Lilac, Milla, Torque, and Carol are up in orbit.

That said, and as edgy as he is, he's not NEARLY as bad as Shadow. Yet. Hopefully he stays that way,

He's going to be playable in an upcoming version, so perhaps his story, if he gets one, will somewhat redeem him.

Seriously though, one of the strech goals for FP is to add Spade and Torque to the game, with story mode stuff. I hope they actually make Spade a more story relevant character, instead of, like you said, a randomly inserted edgy OC.

Spade is Prince Dail's Half-brother.
He was contracted to steal the Kingdom Stone and also wants to find the killer of his father.
He also seemed to be dense about his brother's brainwashing until Battle Glacier.

Yeah, both Torque and Spade are coming. I'm looking forward to Torque more, though. Spade's moveset (based on his fights) looks really cheap, and I'd even go as far as to say Spade would be a real boss nerfer. I can imagine him tearing Brevon apart with relative ease in all three of the final fight phases.

I never said he was going to die. I said he's the only one of the three whom were infected with the virus that hasn't had a violent mutation. Milla lived, and Serpentine is hinted at still living, if the credits are anything to go by.

His edge is unobtrusive and well within a tolerable threshold. I get the impression there's some depth to his character we haven't yet seen due to cut plot arcs.
