Clickteam Fusion 2.5

Videos only play on 1 computer
Hey guys, I have had to build a game for school and I chose Clickteam because my brother has the paid version and I somewhat knew the name. My game is basically done, but I have hit a roadblock. I have 2 videos in the game right now, and when I build it and play it, they work fine, but if I upload a zip file of the game and all its assets to my laptop, the videos no longer work. Everything else works fine, pictures, characters, everything. Just not videos.

The videos are in Active Direct Show containers and they are .wmv. I am new to Clickteam and have been teaching myself as I go. If I could just get this fixed though, I will be good to go, thanks.

Do you contain the videos files in the zip file? Do you know how to load them correctly if you don’t know how to do that search for it and hopefully it can solve your problem

Yes, the videos are within the zip file. In fact, I checked it on another computer that also has Clickteam on it, and, when downloaded, the Active Direct Show has the correct file path. AND you can play the video outside of the game all you want, just for some reason when in the game it's just a white screen with no sound.

Well this is might be the operating system fault then because the direct show object is old and don’t run well on newer operating systems I myself didn’t use this object from way back at multimedia fusion days so find another video viewer in the extensions manager hopefully this will solve your problem

Now I just tested one of the old games that came with fusion 2.5 that use the active direct object as a video viewer and they do the same problem you told about so yeah it’s because of the operating system I think

It might be that you've used the wrong path. By that I mean it might be looking for the videos in folders that are unique to your PC, which it fails to find on your laptop, hence the white screen.

The biggest problem here is that clickteam didn't update anyone of those like AVI object is an outdated object and file format as well as the MPEG object like the best one is The Active direct show object and even that does have problems with new operating systems and no one created an alternative object just ones for IOS and android at least no ones on the manager so you almost don't have any fix for this problem hopefully they will release an update to fix these problems or they will just release fusion 3 soon I know this didn't fix your problem but sorry that what i can help you about :(

That's what I was afraid of :/. The project is due tomorrow and it's been a semester-long project, sucks I've only just figured out this issue was a thing :/

The only thing that would look like a video is playing is to convert the video into frames then import these frames into an active object I don’t think of another solution than this

And whenever you need to pause the “video” just stop the animation and all that stuff and for sound you have to convert the video to a sound file like mp3 you know like you making a custom video player

At least this solution will work on all operating systems that are available
