Clickteam Fusion 2.5

Clickteam Fusion 2.5

why so expensive?
title.

I've seen more powerfull game development engines for free (like the unreal engine) so why is this one so expensive?

I would use a different engine, but since this is the one that was used to make the FNaF games, I feel like my fangames would be able to be made best in this software

this engine is easy to understand and get started using, minimal to no coding experience knowledge needed.you can basicly whip out your first game in hours.its worth the price imho

yeah, but I can literally find more powerfull engines for Free I understand that these people probably need money, but $100 is a bit too expensive if you ask me.

also there's a $300 DLC called "Developer upgrade"

that's expensive AF for a DLC

In my opinion, this is a bargain in the long run.

You may get UE4 for free but it will cost you more in the long run. Not only must you use third party tools Photoshop, 3DSmax, Gimp, Blender, etx) but Also know how to use each and every tool/editor needed to build , not forgetting UE4 itself, but if you plan on selling your game, you pay Epic a percentage of the sell price for each and every copy of the game (I think it was 30% when it was UDK 3.5) so it all adds up.

With Clickteam fusion, you pay once and can sell your games without any additional costs with the exception of distribution costs (Steam, Windows store, GooglePlay, etc). Only catch is with the standard version is where you have to credit Clickteam for supplying the software to said game (Made with Fusion logo or something similar) where as with the developer version, you do not have such restrictions.

Don't quote me on that, I have not sold any games as of yet.

ok, but giving Epic 30% of my profit isn't a big problem, especially if I'm trying to make fangames, which legally can't make money

You're paying for the convenience of a visual editor. Those "Free" engines that you mention are designed with programming in mind, which is a steep learning curve for many that can take both time and money to learn. And while yes, there are visual editors available for those engines, some still require actual coding to set up, and others are designed to work in conjuction with code and visual editing, meaning at the end of the day you still need to know a supported programming language. Not to mention any of those same visual editors that are worth a damn are by no means "free".

As for the developer upgrade, it has further uses beyond merely not needing to include the Clickteam Logo, but if you're goal is simple fan games, then there shouldn't be any feasible reason why that would factor into a decision to buy the standard software.

ok, and I can take the time to lear these things, and I'm not asking for them to make clickteam free, just a bit cheaper, cause $100 is kinda expensive for any software

there is always the free version to try out, but if you ask anyone who is fmailiar with the software, they'll say the price is worth it. Everyting you need mentioned above (photoshop, 3DSmax, etc.) will in total cost more money than this.

actually, 3DSmax is 100% Free. and besides, you can get literally every other software for cheaper than $100 I have not found any other Game Development software for $100 or more.

I might just go and use Unity instead, I've heard that it's good for FNaF fangames as well, and it's not $100, for a software that I'll literally only ever use for two or three projects

This software sometimes goes on very nice sales.. and there is the free version.. but for someone who might not be a coder but has the "mind of a coder".. or some creativity, and want to create stuff, this software is definitely worth the full price.

I highly recommend this for 2D stuff.
Cant wait to start making a game in Fusion once I am done with my current project..

the free version is very limited, and I still think this isn't worth $100, when I could get the same (or better) results with a free software called "Unity" I'm just gonna use that to make my FFD game

Alright.. Go ahead..

CF2.5 is worth it if you've actually got plans to make a serious 2D project.
However, if you're just looking for something to mess around with, then the pricetag of CF2.5 is.. Well, beyond steep.

Personally I got the developer edition from a humblebundle, I think it was like.. 20$ total.
Keep an eye out for those bundles, they usually have developer bundles, or programming bundles, not just for clickteam products, but for unity, cryengine & unreal engine too.

They also have book bundles for programming, which is nice.

I'm sure the clickteam bundle will have an encore someday.

I plan on making two or three FNaF fangame projects with it. that's pretty much all

why so expensive?

Sorry i can see your new to game development and from a developer perspective its dirt cheap.
It makes me laugh when developers spend Millions on using a specific Game Engine to create AAA games but a wannabe game dev thinks £59 Bucks is to much to pay ... But ok lets talk just a good 2D game

Lets say you make a good game .. Put it on steam and it does ok with a £10,000 return and im thinking low here as i know users who have made a lot more over 18 months..
Your £59 bucks wont seem such a high price to have paid then will it :)

Also note ... Unity etc is not free ... Just free to use ( Big Difference )
