Other things to consider, you might have accidentally dragged it into a different folder while trying to click and move it. do a search on both systems or drives for "*.mfa"
You can also look in C:\Windows\Temp as some files end up in there during use. There migth be some cached replica of it there.
You could also potentially recover it from %AppData%\Local\Temp and %AppData%\LocalLow\Temp If it is in either of thsoe spots it'll be in some crazily named folder so I could suggest searching those folders for "*.mfa" again.
As a last resort try some recovery software. Piriform makes a great one called 'Recuva' it's quite effective in it's free form with more powerful features in the paid version.
It's a hindsight issue but I could recommend you save all future files and projects to a syncronized drop-box folder and set it to retain file history.
I ran into a situation somewhat like this a few years back where I lost 4 weeks of work. The way I have things set up right now. I've got various different versions of my files from different dates that I can fall back on. It's basically version control. I know it won't get your file back if it's truly gone, but it will protect you for the future.
Good luck.
