So I totally agree with you on RA3, it seemed like regardless of the faction chosen you'd get your ass beat unless if you did cheesy things like rushing Cyro copters right at the start to shut them down; otherwise the AI was too unfair in it's ways. Easy's more like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Normal mode or something with all of that spam.
Which ultimately turned me off after awhile of playing; I was in all honesty excited to play RA3 when it was launched years ago then I was hit with that... totally unexpected. But, after watching some videos, such as watching pros play and how they handle the AI it's given me an idea of how to beat the AI so I'm thinking of getting back into it.
RA3 does have massive potential in it, if they re-balance things and tweak the AI abit it could potentially be a great game. It's really the only flaw I see in the game otherwise I'd be playing it.
In general, all of the classics like Tiberium Wars, Generals, Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 1 and the original Command & Conquer all had fun and fair AIs. I 'dunno what happened with RA3's dev team but it's not like the others. I can't be the only one that thinks that right?
One thing I've learned with RA3; it's all about aggression and rapid expansion. It's like they designed the game around to be like Starcraft with the faster paced, hardcore AI and how units die much quicker.
The best way to beat the AI is just straight up bum-rush them with everything you got. Because by the 20-30 minute mark or so they AI will be built up immensely and much harder to take down. Which is unfortunate, as for some of us we do like our long drawn out games and the older games gave us that if we wanted.
I know this is old but I wanted to contribute as it's something that's been bugging me for awhile as well.
That or spam Tengus like the average to pro players do. The Tengu is such a versatile and well, cheap unit to use. I can see the appeal, but it does get old after awhile of seeing them in every match.
I'd love to see like more Hammer tanks, Tsunami and Guardian tanks mixed in with infantry to win fights. You know, actual, combined armed tactics like the military does. But with the AI as it is, that's kinda difficult I'm aware.
W/ Imps it could be hard due they keep building Giga Fortress but they are incompetent controlling this unit especially I got air superiority. Ai barely protect this unit against Air superiority. Luckily Ai is so dmb and cannot build another MCV.
W/ Allied Ai is quite balance they use all their force sadly the Ai is so incompetent managing their economy. Allied Ai having a hard time expanding their economy using prospector.
Also Ai will keep building their superpower weapon first making their economy a sht. Unless in high difficulty due the money cheat Ai receiving.
I think what OP talking about is the 1st skirmish map where there is an event of acid bomb.
So far Uprising Ai is a great improvement compare to Red Alert Ai seems improve sadly Ai still can be exploited.
I do agreed w/ Support powers, Support powers should cost credits to be use.
Yeah, most of these abilities should have been buildings, or less accurate.
The passive ones are fine, but they kind of defeat the whole point of being passive in the first place - just have them all on by default.
To disable them you need take out the enemy MCV, Factory and Docks at the same time. Not fun, and only leaves them with infantry to get back at you.
At least when the AI is fighting other AI it gives you breathing room.
So if you want a balanced challenge, team up with easy AI or make it all free for all.
