Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ 3 - Uprising

Kinda hard to have fun in Skirmish
The easy AI keeps spamming these "support powers", for example a acid bomb on a group of infantry I just trained (screw fog of war, who needs this, at least for AI), or even combining a support power that turns my units into money after being killed and then acid bomb. Oh, and there are these falling satelites that can one-hit my power plants and the good old magnet satellite spam.

Nah, I prefer Red Alert 2. The AI may be dumb but at least the AI difficulty curve isn't bullsh!t like TIberium Wars or Red Alert 3. Seriously.

Red Alert Aftermath is gold
Eh, I thought Tiberium Wars and Generals had the best AI; challenging but fun and fair. At least in Generals for example, easy poses a threat but it won't just kick you to the curve like RA3's unit spam will.

So I totally agree with you on RA3, it seemed like regardless of the faction chosen you'd get your ass beat unless if you did cheesy things like rushing Cyro copters right at the start to shut them down; otherwise the AI was too unfair in it's ways. Easy's more like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Normal mode or something with all of that spam.

Which ultimately turned me off after awhile of playing; I was in all honesty excited to play RA3 when it was launched years ago then I was hit with that... totally unexpected. But, after watching some videos, such as watching pros play and how they handle the AI it's given me an idea of how to beat the AI so I'm thinking of getting back into it.

RA3 does have massive potential in it, if they re-balance things and tweak the AI abit it could potentially be a great game. It's really the only flaw I see in the game otherwise I'd be playing it.

In general, all of the classics like Tiberium Wars, Generals, Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 1 and the original Command & Conquer all had fun and fair AIs. I 'dunno what happened with RA3's dev team but it's not like the others. I can't be the only one that thinks that right?

One thing I've learned with RA3; it's all about aggression and rapid expansion. It's like they designed the game around to be like Starcraft with the faster paced, hardcore AI and how units die much quicker.

The best way to beat the AI is just straight up bum-rush them with everything you got. Because by the 20-30 minute mark or so they AI will be built up immensely and much harder to take down. Which is unfortunate, as for some of us we do like our long drawn out games and the older games gave us that if we wanted.

I know this is old but I wanted to contribute as it's something that's been bugging me for awhile as well.

The AI on this game is rubbish and can't possibly beat you if you just play as Japanese and spam rocket angels right after you set up basic defenses. It's really quite odd how powerful these units are even more so in a swarm because they can easily even defeat their own counter units if you just use them wisely and in numbers. Because they fly and have a decent travel speed even if they are in trouble you generally can just flee and attack elsewhere. The AI is always completely unprepared to get flanked at their own base.

That or spam Tengus like the average to pro players do. The Tengu is such a versatile and well, cheap unit to use. I can see the appeal, but it does get old after awhile of seeing them in every match.

I'd love to see like more Hammer tanks, Tsunami and Guardian tanks mixed in with infantry to win fights. You know, actual, combined armed tactics like the military does. But with the AI as it is, that's kinda difficult I'm aware.

Bah this is not true Ai will still make mistake especially when I am using Imps. Ai is having a hard time distinguish between Tengu and VX especially I am fighting Soviet Ai. It is a cake walk fighting Soviet AI due to their lack of air defense.

W/ Imps it could be hard due they keep building Giga Fortress but they are incompetent controlling this unit especially I got air superiority. Ai barely protect this unit against Air superiority. Luckily Ai is so dmb and cannot build another MCV.

W/ Allied Ai is quite balance they use all their force sadly the Ai is so incompetent managing their economy. Allied Ai having a hard time expanding their economy using prospector.

Also Ai will keep building their superpower weapon first making their economy a sht. Unless in high difficulty due the money cheat Ai receiving.

I think what OP talking about is the 1st skirmish map where there is an event of acid bomb.
So far Uprising Ai is a great improvement compare to Red Alert Ai seems improve sadly Ai still can be exploited.

I do agreed w/ Support powers, Support powers should cost credits to be use.

If your playing as the allied team, my tip is to build fortress walls and those laser beam turrets, they are super op and can one shot anything basically, once you've racked up enough money and power, build airfields and spam the ai's ass with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ century bombers, soviets cant do ♥♥♥♥ about them because it takes atleast 10-5 flaks to hit destroy one of them. hope this helped.

since some necromancer revived this thread, I just wanna say that OP you;re not the only want who prefered RA2 over C&C3 and RA3, that game was where C&C is at its golden age until EA screwed up C&C3

"The enemy cannot use top secret protocols... if you disable his MCV."

Yeah, most of these abilities should have been buildings, or less accurate.
The passive ones are fine, but they kind of defeat the whole point of being passive in the first place - just have them all on by default.
To disable them you need take out the enemy MCV, Factory and Docks at the same time. Not fun, and only leaves them with infantry to get back at you.
At least when the AI is fighting other AI it gives you breathing room.
So if you want a balanced challenge, team up with easy AI or make it all free for all.
