specs are I7 8700K 3070 if that helps. i just do not understand why i thought it might be my PC but i reapplied new thermal paste and set all my fans to max and AIO fans to max so i am at a loss. any help would be appreciated as i do like the game just cant seem to get it to run good. i know its in a working progress but dang. if i die due to NPC i get it but i loose more stuff from game crashes than anything else. a few min ago the game dropped connection i got it to reconnect i still had my stuff i exited safely deployed again and boom it was gone along with all my progress on 2 missions im to the point where i might just switch to another game till they figure this stuff out

Nope, checked yesterday with friends who also experience the same, only in this game.

Cpu in base camp is at 85-90%, moving an inch immediately gave a spike to 100% CPU usage. In all other games, even the most demanding of late, a max of 40-50% is experienced.
Anywhere else on the map, 100% CPU usage is experienced, raising temperatures for me to 81°C. My CPU is liquid cooled, normally never exceeding 60°C in any other game.

It is another example of the bad, amateuristic coding they have no answer for since this issue was already reported since day 1, even by owners of high tier setups.

Their answer: undervolt.
No devs, YOU have to come up with better coding.
Seems to be a real issue but it's definitely not affecting everyone's rigs in this way. Personally my temps are fine sitting at around 65° for both cpu and gpu, I'm not experiencing this but if I was I'd maybe leave gzw until more is known about it. I've read something about certain intel chips and mb stock settings causingbthis issue but I don't actually know for sure. I've also read about ue5 games specifically seem to share some of these issues but again I don't know. What I do know is it's running well for me and while "I'm alright jack" mentality doesn't help you it's in everyone's interest to get this game working on appropriate hardware. All the best.
CPU Temps do fluctuate a lot for me, with a 13900k. but I had adequate cooling to keep it from going too high. have you tried updating your BIOS to the latest as some boards basically overclocked intel CPUs by default to win the speed race on reviews. but most manufacturers have since updated their BIOS to set them at a more reasonable level.
The Intel/Mobo overpower issue is on the 13th/14th Gen Intel chips, so OPs 8th Gen shouldn't be a problem. That said it does sound like he's hitting some throttling or the CPU or GPU is just shutting down due to overheating.

OTOH, you mention the overheating, but what setting are you using? You've probably heard that the FSR Framegen is causing a lot of people to crash frequently. Have you tried DLSS or TSR? Also, try lowering game resolution a bit and see if that helps throttle things.

Otherwise, it might just be you need better cooling on the system. Are you getting UE5 Engine crashes, or just random CTD?
well yes, but he is rocking a 7 year old CPU on a cutting edge game and engine. one of the recent games that actually utilise the power of new CPUs so its not a surprise that its pushing that chips capabilities to their maximum the video card is 4 years old too. I know they were expensive and still good for a lot of games, but that CPU is probably due an upgrade to be fair, which would be a good time to also upgrade the RAM and be on a modern chipset.

All things that would help overloading the cPU.

Also, and don't kill me for this but a system clogged with dust will overheat too, worth a look as a possible solution, if it works it works, right!

Welcome to UE5
I had 13400F and 4060. At base my cpu (with stock cooler) above 80% usage and temp around 90 Celsius. I'll be back when more optimization patches come out.
I had the same issue as follow but it turns out that for me all of this dissapear when I turned off in my Bios the Intel CPU Turbo mode + another function that put over 4000+ V in my CPU (Liquid cooler something to Boxed cooler).
I run a 13600k with a 4080 for ref with a Msi Z790 Edge wifi. Bios not updated to the last version. Now everything works fine

For every Intel User i recommend deactivating the IntelBoost Technology in your BIOS.
This will prevent the PC Shutdown on Intel systems, its a known problem with UE5 Engine bringing your CPU to 100% load and heating it up to the point of Safety System shutdown! We have to wait for a fix here.
And no you dont loose a noticeable amount of graphic power while doing so. Can be changed back at anytime loading your BIOS again.

i7 11900k, 3080ti here.
PC Shutdown sometimes with IntelBoost ON (Loading into Game, or flying Heli). But no Problems when its OFF.

Enjoy.
