What faction are you in? Finding people to roll with is probably your best bet until you get your feet under you in the game. There is a learning curve to the game at first so it takes a bit.
1.4 million at the moment.
Died twice getting to level 40.
GG
If this game gets any easier than it is currently, I'm simply going to uninstall and not look back. The game is not much of a challenge these days for most people. Now that the respawn is at 45 minutes, I think you could play it blindfolded to be honest.
Meaning this is not CoD or Battlefield.
Slow down your game play, stay close to cover (soft or hard), learn to spot Tango's at range. If you are being shot at and not sure from where move to hard cover don't try to figure it out while under fire you'll die. Tangos will try to move to your last known location use that to your advantage (flank, peek, backup, move and try again from another location)
During the early game I highly recommend running an AK of any kind, the enemy in the starter towns will provide all the ammo you'll ever need. Once you get Artisan opened up you'll be able to suppress your gun (helps with determining who's shooting if you are in a group), Pay attention to sound, this is key to any tactical shooter, foot steps voicelines weapons being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ selector settings etc
Learn how to make money, in this game that means getting ratnik guns the AK 12/15/19 any one of these guns will sell for $800+ (the higher the durability the more $, more attachments increases the value), get your hands on good loot keys, Louisa Kate both have safe's plus a lot of loose valuables these sell for easy cash. Getting ratniks is easy if you are patient, kill guards at the FN gates, grab the guns remove the mag and grip and it'll fill a 1x5 in a bag bigger the bag the more you'll make.
I do recommend gzwtacmap online. This will point you in the direction of free or easy to get loot locations,
Lastly I will say this, don't run full auto in the early game, semi at range is more accurate, full auto at close range IE when they are within 10 feet of you. If you have lost all your starter stuff, do a reset and start with fresh starter gear try again.
First, if you struggle at the game, play PVE and don’t play PvPvE, just don’t. If you struggle with AI, why not start with simpler combat first? Outside your base which you can walk to there’s a motel and a convenience store. Around the area at most you will encounter 3 AIs but mostly one or two, AIs won’t be hiding in bushes, mostly at road sometimes in the convenience store and buildings around it, least likely at the motel. When you arrive, look to places that AI might be at, check every corner and always assume enemies around until the area is cleared. Enemy AIs spawning there is usually the same goons you will encounter in the starter town and the place is relatively close to main base so recover your own body shouldn’t be difficult. The area only contains mostly provision and loots not worth much, on average this walk to the store can net you around 120~450 dollars depend on if there is valuable item spawning there (smartphone, snake wine, etc.).
If you’re confident enough move into areas around town but not too deeply into the center, try to buy an m4 with an ACOG and snipe enemy off, preferably at least 100 meters (yards). House in the middle of the rice field and with less concealment around is ideal. Repeat several times and increase the complexity of each engagement until you feel confident enough to do the task. You can plan your route on grayzone warfare community contribute map at Map Genie. Though most of the information might be outdated but it is better than nothing. Don’t get distracted, don’t be greedy, finish the tasks and get out ASAP if you feel the situation is uncomfortable.
Usually, the issue new player facing is that they aren’t understand AI’s behavior well enough and their previous experience with various first person shooter games need to adjust to play grayzone warfare well. The starter town for each faction, despite named “starter town” making clueless player easily facing at least 3 enemies at the same time can be overwhelming. Many new players might not know their gunshot sound so loud agro nearby enemy and get frustrated when some AI taking potshot finished their bullet peppered PMC after some gruesome war against local hobos. Well, if, they managed to kill the enemies around Memorial Bridge first.
Grayzone warfare isn’t one of your competitive FPS slop that focusing on fast pacing, aggressive encouraging game play, you should treat this game as more of a immersive sim with stealth elements. Be patient, be aware of your surrounding and have good situational awareness to know when to engage and disengage. This thought process can be generalized into survivability onion which is easily found online with explanation.
This is designed to be a slower-paced game.
For what it's worth, here's my two cents:
1. When you shoot from a distance, always sneak to a new location.
2. If you get into a serious firefight with multiple AI, run inside a building a wait for them to come to you.
3. Use ammo that has a little dispersion but not too much: -2 or -3 dispersion is solid.
4. Take your time on missions. There is no clock and you should never be in a rush.
5. Overwatch areas before you move in.
Sound plays a big role into detecting AI. If you use headphones or speakers with good imaging you can often times pinpoint an enemy before you even see them (they talk ALOT), or quickly pick up their location as they fire their first shots at you. This can help you plan moving between hard cover, or in the worst case scenario where to sprint to safety.
The imaging quality of the headphones you use will make a big difference here. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tests/sound-quality/imaging Soundstage also should play a much bigger role, but it seems gunshot distance audio mixing isn't really the greatest right now. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tests/sound-quality/passive-soundstage
Crouch walking makes to near invisible to AI, Enemies are almost always in groups. IF you see 3 people, there's probably more like 5-7. You have a rifle that can hit targets 100m+ away, CQB engagement right now are a little better than coin flip, and should be avoided if at all possible.
You will always have the element of surprise in this game..... until you start running.
