Internet connection dies, game disconnect, gear gone

Happy to play the game now that it works with Proton, however, there is one issue currently that bothers me a bit.

I must have lost some $20K++ to this issue.

The internet connection dies at times. When it does, I get disconnected. When I reconnect, all my gear is gone and I have to re-purchase.

Except one time when the connection died in the chopper on the way to YBL. When I reconnected (restarted steam, the game, connected to the server) I had all my gear at the YBL LZ.

Is it some kind of anti-cheat mechanism that makes it so that if you ping timeout you lose all your gear, unless you're in chopper on your way to an LZ?

Had that happen to me yesterday, lost internet for a couple hours, came back, spawned stripped in camp. sometime it spawns you back where you dropped intact, sometimes it just wipes your inventory on your body.

If you reconnect fast enough, you usually don't lose anything, but AFAIK the system will be slightly reworked in patch 0.2.3. However, it should be expected that you lose your gear when you disconnect. Otherwise, you could just pull your network cable anytime you get into bad gunfight...

Only consistent way to prevent this is to play with a squad. That way if you get disconnected or crash you just have them invite you back to the squad so you can join the same server you crashed out of. Best case you're right back where you crashed, worst case you need to go retrieve your stuff.

When I'm playing solo I don't take anything I wouldn't be okay losing. Which is basically saying I don't go out with my Delta or Lennons, depending on how many M2s I'm sitting on I won't take those either.
It stings a bit losing anything to a crash but I don't care much about losing guns. I'm closing on 400k and money is so easy to come by if you loot smart. I look at it as a chance to buy some more rep with Gunny and Turncoat.
