nvidia does say that the new model for frame generation can increase fps, and reduce vram usage. I only have a single GPU that supports DLSS I can test, and I already stay within reasonable resource limits so I don't see a difference. However, it's possible if someone was previously overflowing their VRAM budget, or maybe hitting a CPU bottleneck (honestly not sure of what other scenarios it's supposed to help), that performance can be better with the new frame generation model.
For sure there can be some uplift, but in every review I've seen on YT or read across the internet I've never seen anything even close to a 35% increase in performance. That's either an extreme anomaly or resolution being lowered/other settings adjusted. I'm guessing he clicked that Ultra-Performance button in the app. Really, if DLSS4 increased performance that much it would render their 50 series obsolete (especially the 5080 which is already looking pretty disappointing).
Yes I understand the Upscaling portion of DLSS 4 will typically lead to a raw performance drop when ignoring all other factors. However, Transformer does use less VRAM, both for Upscaling and Frame Generation. If someone is in some weird edge case right above their card's VRAM limit, and suddenly Transformer gets it back down comfortably within the limit, I could see getting an outsized FPS boost.
I agree 30% or whatever is not at all typical though and 99.9% of players would never see that effect, but I don't want to call it completely impossible with how much overflowing VRAM can affect performance.
I have a RTX 4060, laptop card. It shows Unsupported for me as well, i cant even get the game to launch
Yup was also greyed out for me until I did a fresh install of the app.
Swapping will not work in GZW, and in general I would advise not trying to swap for online games that use anti-cheat.
You must set the "Latest" override via the nvidia app to use the new Transformer/Preset K, and yes it is working.
K is not explicitly listed because Latest = K.
Just trying to grasp how it works.
Funny how DLSS override settings are not supported on my RTX 4090
The options show up for my 4090. You may need to reinstall the app.
