Also, as mentioned earlier, I recommend changing your strategy. Try playing more cautiously- avoid rushing, scan your surroundings carefully, and use the map to understand the area better.
You can also team up with other players, gather gear from AI enemies, or head to the starter city. It's relatively easy but has many buildings and scattered AI, so sometimes you might not notice them right away. I suggest not heading straight to the center of the city. Instead, try flanking from the sides and focusing on your mission objective (for example). Pick up any gear you find and sell it when you return to the base. This way, you can slowly build up your funds.
And finally, if your character dies at a specific location, you can return to that spot and collect your gear. However, note that if the character dies again before you retrieve the gear from the first location, the first location, including all the gear, will disappear.
Typically (at least from my personal experience), if I see a player who doesn't have gear at the base, I ask them if they need any and give them what I can. There are other players who do the same, and they will be happy to help you at the base if you just ask.
Unbind your sprint button.
Set all guns to single fire.
If you can't see the enemies it's likely because you are not looking ahead and just running in willy nilly.
I don't move anywhere unless i have scoped it out thoroughly first. When i do move, it's slow and always behind or near cover. There are no surprises.
Cleared FN multiple times yesterday, didn't even get hit once, let alone die. All POI's are now laughably easy at night. Just don't run around making a lot of noise. That's what they react to.
Haven't lost a kit in weeks (aside from tossing guns at 70% durability), and I'm now over 900k bank and a full stash.
If the game is hard it's because you are taking it too easy. Slow way down.
The game isn't even released yet lol
I don't know how you play, but I see a lot of people running through the map and die. If that's your play style, then there is your problem. This is a more of a slow and calculated and clear type movement. Seeing enemy, well you have to slow down listen and get some decent scopes. You will learn enemy patterns upon going into areas often enough, so you know what to expect next time.
My advice is to try to make some friends and play with people that can help you out. Listing your faction and what region you play in would really help with that. I have no problem helping others out that are looking for people to play with. Pickup weapons and sell them and use the money to re-equip. There is a point in this game where most of us do that to get our money up to resupply. Missions used to pay more, but they cut those back. Try to use weapons that you can get ammo off of dead bodies, instead of buying it. Ammo should be free at least starting out. Its one of your biggest expenses otherwise.
The imaging quality of the headphones you use will make a big difference here. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tests/sound-quality/imaging Soundstage also should play a much bigger role, but it seems gunshot distance audio mixing isn't really the greatest right now. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tests/sound-quality/passive-soundstage
Thanks for all your feedback, much appreciated.
My play style is very much cautious and tactical but still getting nailed. I'm not a run and gun type of player. I guess this is majority of my frustration. I seem to be playing the right way but not getting it right. I guess I'll adjust my play style and keep trying. Last encounter I was creeping my way down past some buildings, checking everywhere (or so I thought), Heard the usual voice when you get detected and turned to find cover until I could see them but got nailed by AI behind me. Frustrating when you think youve covered everything.
Re sound I'm using Steelseries Arctis 9 headset so should be good for sound perception. I find that the AI is silent until I'm detected then all hell breaks loose. The worst is I can hear then and have solid cover then still get one shot from cover. Anyone else finding this? Also If I sneak about and try and get visual on the AI I just can't see them, yet they can see me even through bush and cover.
I've been switching between single and auto fire, great when I can see an AI before they see me and have time to aim at head etc. Issue then becomes if I get spotted, I cant switch quick enough to be able to sling enough lead down stream before I'm in a coma.
Anyway I'll try again. Fingers crossed I can do a bit better and level up some traders to get better gear.
Thanks again everyone for comments
You also have to play the game with some confidence. It sounds dumb, but go in confident next time, that you will do better and clear the area. You can camp and hide too much also, which is playing scared. Most of the time you are better off dictating the fight and not letting them dictate it to you, because they already know where you are. Try making sure you are in hard cover and use the peek functions in the game to expose less of yourself. If they shoot at you through a bush reposition and come from another angle, try and crouch walk through areas you feel or know will be hostile. You have to put the hours in and things will get better as you gain experience.
Just done a few hours and managed to clear 5 missions for vendors. Changed tactic re not relying on bushes, crouch walk more rather than just walk, and stick to buildings and hard cover. Also if I hear I have been detected and cant see them retreat and relocate to try and seek them out rather than wait for them to reveal themselves.
Still been killed but only twice.
Now, having issue with microphone not working even though all settings in PC correct and microphone working in other apps. Been googling like crazy but no success. I'll raise another discussion for that.
First is the mic trouble. I ran into the same issue, works fine in (most) other games, but never here. I tested it with a crappy USB mic, and it worked.
From a suggestion on Reddit, not even about GZW, I downloaded Voicemeeter Banana, and ran my mic through one of their inputs. It works flawlessly, with no noticeable quality drop at all. Just a TINY delay that can be fixed with other guides, changing buffers and such. but it is not enough to bother me.
Second point is getting shot in the back. I tend to pick a side of the street, and clear the yards and buildings roughly, so I always have a place to fall back too if the next yard has more enemies. Takes more time, but I never die to getting shot in the back anymore.
Just good practice, you see more rare loot items this way too.
