Suppressors and sub-sonic ammo
So has anyone tested these two yet?
I know that most suppressors get as loud as 75db but there are two which I noticed are around 35db but they don't have any sub-sonic ammo (I think, the mosin and glock).

So has anyone done any testing with these to see how effective they are at noise suppression in-game, mostly against players?

With players, you can hear suppressors pretty far out, on the guns.
Subs do not really seem to reduce the sound much, if any.

I can hear shots from players using subsonic m4's and AK's across entire towns. >200 meters.

When you are in a town, listen for fire, and if it is suppressed, check the map and range the players near you. If you and them are the only ones, how far away are they?

I can tell you that I have never heard unsuppressed fire only, and go see the AI dead. I always hear return fire from the players subsonic or not.
You can hear the distinction in the gun sounds, and the way the AI shoots vs how players shoot.

With AI, they are effective > ~100 meters or so.
If you are shooting at an AI, the bullet will agro them, not the muzzle sound.
So you can shoot another direction and not agro an enemy somewhere else, unless they are also triggered by some other factor.

Really?
That's a bit disappointing then. :(

When I 1st started playing I tried using slower (worse) bullets with the suppressor. It made no difference. Just use the better ammo.

So you have to keep in mind, that suppressors are not going to reduce the sound a ton.
Shooting a sub sonic round compared to a super sonic round, in real life, is a huge difference.
But Super to Super, suppressed, it not that much of a difference.
A big point of suppressors, is not sound, it is Flash and signature.

If/When we get something like a subsonic caliber, like .300 Blk, that would be when we can finally test this stuff out.

That round, subsonic and suppressed, is super quite.
BUT, you can still hear it at 100 meters. You just can not gauge the location very well.

are they coming out with a 300 blackout? That would be awesome.

But is any of that actually working in-game?

it does make the sound quieter but still sends everyone your signature. You can hear the difference between a suppressed & unsuppressed weapon clearly, but you will still hear both easily. With most people using suppressed weapons it can help differentiate from player or AI. But your not going to be sneaky assassin or anything. I snipe from afar with suppressors & they will always pull to your location. So keep on the move.

Kind of, but not with ammo types, at least not that I have seen.
With AI, yes, a suppressor changes how far they will detect you.
With players, maybe the sound signature is not as far, but I have not tested this.
Would be easy to test thou.
Two people stand 200m from each other, one shoots non suppressed, one shoots suppressed.
Can you both hear each others guns?
If not, move closer and try again.
If so, move further.
Do this until you can not hear the suppressed, but you can hear the non.

Sorry, my bad.
I was just going to crop out this bit but forgot.

Like, combining both suppressors and sub-sonic ammo.
Like you, I also tried the sub-sonic rounds with a suppressor and didn't see or hear any difference. But after the first 3 mags I didn't try much more either as the better ammo seemed more effective.

Ahh, okey dokey.
Perhaps someone will do this at one point then. :o

Grab a buddy, do this for us, and post the results. I would like the answer as well, but I wont be getting on for a couple days.

There ist a YouTube Video of someone testing this.
If I remember correctly, both weapons (surpressed/non surpressed) are hearable up to 400m.

Thank you for this.
