great query.
For me it depends on how "milsim" the developers want the game to go. If the intention is to be realistic as much as possible, then a PMC in country,, even one owned by a billionaire, is not going to have unlimited air transport available. I hope the devs will look at adding ground transport as an option as a PMC would have those options available to their contractors.
I don't mind the limited resources - I do think there is an opportunity to fix the system so there is both a better queuing system for Infil/Exfil requests - or you can use ground transport instead. Secondly, I think also fixing the information about where a Helo is flying to would be good - I saw three helo carrying one character each arriving one after the other into the same Landing Point, which was a waste and I could not jump on one of them to exfil back to base even though I know it is going back to base camp.
One way to fix the camping would be rather than have predetermined LZ/LPs rather as part of your mission prep you can select a primary LZ/LP and a secondary one on any place on the maps and if you see campers you can select to go to the secondary. And the same on exfil, you can pick a primary and secondary location and once you get to the primary if it is "blown" due to campers then you can switch your helo to the secondary
Just making it so everyone has a heli upon demand just isn't the kind of game this is. This is much more adjacent to a milsim ARMA 3 server rather than Warzone Plunder. Sometimes you're just going to have to hike it, either to a different LZ or land farther away from a hot LZ and move-in on foot. Not really the kind of game for a quick 20 min sesh.
AKA what I mean is as soon as somebody gets dropped off and the helicopter takes off, if somebody else has requested in que it will just immediately start flying to them rather than fly off the map and a whole different one flys in.
Second, the queuing system is a good idea. Better than slamming the Mouse Keys after a heli disappears from the map. It‘s ridicoulous… Today I‘d to wait 15 minutes, before I was able to get a pick up.
If a little bird drops off a teammate on the LZ, why am I not able to take his heli back to base. Why do I have to call in another one? That is sth. I can‘t understand.
And - last but not least - being able to drop off the heli anytime on the route to it‘s destination would be great.
as explain, the faction are PMC not the US Army, so unlimited helicopter is kinda out of the question, kinda the same for a armed helicopter acting as a GunShip as I thing international law forbid to armed an helicopter.
indicating where the helicopter is going before he land at base will allow mutualisation of transport, seeing 4 helicopter with 1 pmc going at the same place is frustrating in a way, also when you order a helicopter if there is one incomming going there the game should point it out to you so you can ride share.
for the starter town the use of mechanical can be a good idea with small FOB for the beguinner to load out, it will also present the griefing of other faction PVP in starter town new player as easy target.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Patrol_Insertion/Extraction SPIE can also be a solution to extract and just roping to insert
I agree 100% + what Sir Andelot wrote:
"the information where a heli is heading would be a good point to start with. When a heli flies over to base camp, to pick up a squad, you can‘t tell what it‘s final destination, until it takes off."
Right now having like 3 LZs around each village makes it only so that people hog helicopters as their personal taxis and use several helicopters instead of one to get to essentially the same place. Make 4-5 large landing zones per PMC faction that has helicopter land in a slightly different place each time (or maybe fast-rope operators over jungle without landing) to combat LZ camping, and have dedicated helicopters going back and forth between PMC base and those LZs, so people share them instead of using helicopters as individual transport.
Going on foot is actually fun as hell. Just seems too many people have ADHD to actually want to walk for more than 5 minutes.
When I am playing in a squad, we usually land at the secondary LZs in areas and go on foot into POIs.
Mitigates the chances of getting killed off of the LZ while being able to move into POIs without other PMC factions even know we entered the area.
I think the real issue is people don't have patience and want to see action 24/7 while playing.
