What is the point of the giant open world?
The map is gigantic, but inbetween points of interest (like 2-3km sometimes) it's just jungle with nothing in it... Looks pretty, I like it, but what's the point of it? Are there any secrets? Can we interact with the jungle in any way? Just seems like a giant waste of space.

Do the devs have any plans to make it involved more in gameplay? Or is it just to look pretty?

Have you actually explored the map? There are real POI that have no quest tied to them and have AI and loot still, I'm sure they will add more quests and content to give the map more things to do.. but I'm pleasantly surprised at how alive the world is because you can walk out of base camp go to any direction/building you see and you will find loot/AI and roads/buildings. If you don't like to explore open worlds you most likely won't care for an open world game. The real point of an open world in a game like this is the freedom to choose your approach, in level based games you literally will often hit an invisible wall or some other purely arbitrary level design constraint, if you don't have the imagination to understand the difference you may want to get your head checked.

You're not very good at trolling. If you are genuine, this is pretty sad.

I guess than I am a sad person too - because I like the open world without any loading screens and constant matchmaking.

in the grand scheme of things, it's still just a gigantic gimmick

I imagine you are entertained by jingling keys. There's nothing to do in the jungle in this game. Prove me wrong. Why would you go through the jungle? What purpose does it serve? What gameplay does it make you engage in?

I swear to god, kids are getting so dumb. You guys can't even give a single example to support your arguments beyond "I like it". I didn't ask if you liked it, I don't care if you like it, no one else cares if you like it. The question is, WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GIANT OPEN WORLD. Man it's not that complicated of a question.

It looks so simple to me also after reading the roadmap. Lay down the playground where you can place with future updates more poi, missions, patrolling factions, new biome ect. They may succeed or not in developing their game but asking why it means that you didn’t read anything from the devs and just ranting cause right now there are few empty patches. :)

They should add random patrols in these jungles.

game runs like ♥♥♥♥ yet they wanna have 75% of the map not doing anything other than rendering pixels and making helo travel worse than it needs to be

Kid? XD I am a grown man with kids and a wife ... XDDD
So what the point of the open world is? I dont know - ask the devs. But I can give you my opinion after 26,5 hours of playtime in GZW: I like that I come across some houses with some random NPCs, that a player could be behind every bush, that there are no close borders and just some in and exfill points, that I can choose to go straight into my task area or choose to take a LZ a bit down the road so that no one knows that I am coming (and that served me well in PvP haha). And .. most important: The possible ways for the devs to give us content in the future

this is what tarkov said it was going to do at release. lol such lies.

I'll call B.S. I've had to wait when all birds are unavailable, a few times it's been up to a couple of minutes, but never had to wait more than 5-6 minutes to get a bird. An hour? Yeah...okay...
