Newbie tips please

I am just starting out on PvE and spent about 2.5 hours just learning the UI and doing some performance testing. This is my first game of this type and haven't been playing shooters in a long time and never played Tarkov. The PvE aspect felt like a good entry point.

When I start a task, it appears pretty far out into the map. Am I supposed to just land at the LZ I have access to and then hike it on foot to the point of interest? I started that the other day and looted a downed AI AK and didn't want to lose it so I thought to drop it back off at the base. I could NOT find a way to go back to the base? How do I do that because calling the LZ either was a no go or they would just route me to another LZ but I couldn't find a way to signal a return to base and had to hot tail it on foot. I know this is super rudimentary but I just need some pointers!

click on the base to call a chopper there if there not all in use, the place you want to go to is what you click then game will find you best pickup point.
yes your going have to hoof it into town or where ever you think the mission is telling you to go.
keep an eye out for keys keep them, some are only for mission rooms others lead to loot area, take your time don't worry about losing gear.

Awesome thank you so much. I guess the choppers were just full at the times I tried clicking on the base. I’ll look out for the keys. They are in the towns?

random loot of npc, keep an eye out for crates you can open, takes some time for the loot to show when you look
