Helmets and armor are pointless

As title says, they are pointless, you will ALWAYS get 1 tapped to the head no matter how much armor you have and 2-3 tapped to the chest.

Armor only covers what it physically covers. If you get hit in the nose, obviously a brain bucket is not going to do a damn thing. I have had plenty examples where a helmet had saved my life. Massive bruising, 100 integrity down to 7 integrity. That shot could have been a one tap, but instead made my ears ring and dazed my character.

Secondly, if you know how armor ratings work, they’re not going to work for majority of weapons in game until you unlock Class IV armor. IIIA armor is only good for up to big bore pistol (44 mag), it will lessen damage from an AK but VERY negligibly.

Armor doesn’t make you bullet proof. IRL armors shatter or become useless after 2-3 impacts in a concentrated area.

My helmets have saved me multiple times from shots.

AI simply shoots around it.

I've been shot 1,000 times, only a handful of those times has the AI managed to actually hit the armor.

Armor doesen't matter if the AI magically shoots around it everytime.

Again, dev issue.

Check the NIJ rating, Most of what you get at the start is only IIIA or III. Think one of the helmets is IIA+? Not 100%.

I had a fair few hits to the armour, one of my rigs is down to 60 odd %

Armor isn't worthless, it's inconsistent. Sometimes, it will work surprisingly well, even against things I don't expect it to stop. But other times, and what seems like more of the time, it either doesn't stop rounds or doesn't get it. I've died a lot to neck injuries. I get it, it's more realistic, but it is worth thinking about that. That said, helmets, even bad helmets (I have a IIA+ helmet that saved me from shotgun slugs which is probably more than I would expect from it) are probably not a bad idea and armor is an insurance policy against strays and small arms fire more than a guarantee to win a firefight.

Depends what armour you're wearing and what gun/ammo the AI are using.

Level IIA, II and IIIA are only rated for pistol calibers essentially. Only Level III and Level IV armour is rated to stop rifle rounds and you don't get that armour til a bit later on. I don't even think the game has Level IV armour yet, but could be wrong.

So basically... If you are wearing level IIIA armour that is immediately available to you, it won't stop 7.62 AK rounds. Simple as. it WILL (or should) protect you from the guys using Skorpions, shotguns and pistols though.

This is just flat out wrong, I've taken a bullet to the dome on several occassions and walked away with a concussion/dizzy effect with some damage to my helmet, it depends on the caliber, range and your helmet, same for your vest. It's more likely you expecting too much from the wrong piece of kit.

AI problems. Most of my injuries and deaths cause by bullets have been anywhere but impacts on my armor pieces.

Hits on my limbs, lower stomach, sides if Im not wearing side plate armor.

Ive been downed and died from legs shots, arm shots, waist area and somehow the AI critically hitting my organs THROUGH my chestpiece. My rando buds checking to see if my plate took any damage and nope, its 100% durability. Helmet, 100% durability. This has happened more than occasion in even the starter town. SP ammo just killing me outright. SP ammo. Why am I dying to a bullet that didnt even scratch my chestpiece and the death recap is - bullet hit organs = death from enemy hobo.

on average a Assault Rifle bullet weighs 100grain and if it hits u smack in the face your brain-basket just pops even if u have your Amazon 5star rated 1000 bucks Kevlar and Unobtanium infused Helmet on.... simple Physics mate

i got some really scary moments when they hit my cereal bowl on the head and it dropped down to like 7% integrity so there is your pointless reason we have helmets in the game

also if u pop the thing thats sitting on your neck from behind a wall there is actual no missing explanation why they shoot u in the head all the time... its all they can see since the rest of u is still behind bricks concrete or whatever this wall is made of..

out in the open if u crouch or even prone the target area shrinkes... if u just approch an enemy Upright they paint u with bullets from top to bottom.... once they shot me in the left forearm -> kidney -> lungs - right upper arm with just one spray..... i still wonder how i managed to get out of this one alive
